Job summary

Keller Technology Corporation (KTC) seeks a skilled Welder for our Buffalo, NY location. You will read drawings, set up jobs, fabricate components, and weld to precise project specifications using GMAW and GTAW for carbon steel, stainless, and aluminum.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years welding/fabrication experience in a custom or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Proficient in GMAW and GTAW, especially for Carbon Steel, Stainless, and Aluminum.
  • Must pass a 6G GTAW pipe test and a 2G GMAW plate test (NDT requirements).
  • Strong blueprint reading and layout skills with precision execution.
  • Ability to work overtime and maintain strict safety protocols.
  • Experience with nickel alloys and advanced welding processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Read digital drawings/schematics, set up jobs, fabricate components, and weld to precise project specifications.
  • Troubleshoot, adjust, and operate welding equipment across various welding processes and materials.
  • Maintain required code qualifications and perform quality control on all self-produced parts.
  • Use shop computers to access project specs, track hours, and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Operate material handling equipment and assist other departments as needed.
  • Collaborate with welding team to share knowledge and drive process improvements.
  • Participate in safety meetings and uphold workplace safety standards.
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet deadlines and production schedules.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Blueprint & Setup: Read digital drawings/schematics, set up jobs, fabricate components, and weld to precise project specifications.
  • Equipment & Process Mastery: Troubleshoot, adjust, and operate welding equipment across various welding processes and specialized materials.
  • Code Certification: Maintain required code qualifications and execute quality control checks on all self-produced parts.
  • Digital & Workflow Tracking: Use shop computers to access project specs, track job hours against targets, and maintain workflow efficiency.
  • Shop Operations & Logistics: Operate material handling equipment (e.g., fork trucks), move parts, and assist other departments like assembly when needed.
  • Team Collaboration & Growth: Work closely with welding team members to share knowledge, refine skills, and drive process improvements.
  • Safety & Workplace Standards: Actively participate in team meetings and maintain strict adherence to workplace safety protocols.
  • Overtime Readiness: Willingness to work overtime, including weekday extensions and weekends to meet critical customer deadlines and production schedules.
Qualifications: Qualifications & Skills
  • Industry Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on welding and fabrication experience in a custom or precision manufacturing environment.
  • Core Process Expertise: Skilled in GMAW and GTAW processes across Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel, with a strong emphasis on Aluminum welding.
  • Weld Testing & NDT: Ability to pass a 6G GTAW pipe test, a 2G GMAW plate test, and meet X-Ray Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) quality standards.
  • Blueprint Reading & Layout: Strong blueprint interpretation skills with proven capability in fixture preparation, precision layout, and thorough project execution.
  • Work Ethic & Mindset: High degree of project ownership, strong problem-solving skills, professional attitude, and a focus on continuous process improvement.
  • Advanced Alloys (Preferred): Experience welding nickel alloys like Hastelloy and Inconel is a strong plus.
  • Advanced Processes (Preferred): Experience with or willingness to learn Orbital Welding, Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), and Robotic Welding systems.
  • Code & Spec Knowledge (Preferred): Familiarity with ASME Section IX code requirements, pressure vessels, and high-vacuum chamber fabrications.
Education:

High School Diploma or GED, Trade school preferred
