Job summary

HireLevel is seeking a Fitter Welder in St. Louis, MO to maintain steel inventory, set up equipment, fit and weld components, and support fabrication teams on a 4/10 shift schedule. Pay is up to $25/hr with a 6:00am-4:30pm shift and Mon-Thu work, Friday OT.

Responsibilities include reading blueprints, interpreting welding symbols, performing layout and saw operations, and ensuring materials are received, tracked, and ready for fabrication while maintaining safety and organization.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and implement blueprints and welding symbols.
• Basic math including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
• 1+ year of basic arc welding experience and 2-5 years fitter welder experience.
• 3-4 years in fabrication, layout, saw operation, or related industrial environments.

Responsibilities

• Fit elbow and attachment using torch and tack welding.
• Operate fabrication equipment including abrasive cut-off saws and band saws.
• Shear, roll, drill, burn, and prepare materials as needed.
• Lay out, position, align, and fit components together.
• Receive, inspect, stock, and mark incoming steel materials.
• Set up equipment and weld parts; use a saw machine as needed.
• Clean and grind as required; track steel inventory.

Job Overview

HireLevel is looking for Fit Welder in St. Louis, MO! Under ongoing supervision, this position is responsible for maintaining steel inventory, operating fabrication equipment, performing layout and saw operations, and assisting with fitting and welding activities. This role supports production by ensuring materials are received, tracked, prepared, and available for fabrication while maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Job Type: Full Time

Location: St. Louis, MO

Pay: Up to $25/hr.

Shift: 6:00am-4:30pm

Shift days: Monday -Thursday (Friday OT)

Responsibilities of the Fitter Welder

• Fits elbow and attachment using torch and tack welding.
• Operate fabrication equipment including abrasive cut-off saws, horizontal saws, vertical band saws, and iron workers.
• Shear, roll, drill, burn, and prepare materials as needed.
• Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.
• Receive, inspect, verify, stock, color code, and mark incoming steel materials.
• Sets up equipment and welds parts.
• Uses a saw machine as needed.
• Performs cleaning and grinding as required.
• Keeps track of steel inventory.
• Maintains a positive attitude and work atmosphere.

Requirements of the Fitter Welder

• Ability to read and implement blueprints
• Ability to interpret welding symbols from blueprints
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
• 1+ year of basic arc welding experience
• 2-5 years of fitter welder experience
• 3-4 years of experience in fabrication, layout, saw operation, steel inventory control, or related industrial environments

• AWS D1.1
