Job summary

ABEC is seeking a Welder/Fabricator to assemble and repair biopharmaceutical equipment according to process instructions and blueprints. The role involves working with stainless steel, orbital and TIG welding, and fabrication across multiple stations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities include fabricating parts accurately, following SOPs, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Prior lean/six sigma exposure is a plus; travel may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years fabrication experience preferred.
  • Ability to perform simple math and read a tape measure.
  • Excellent problem-solving and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with hand tools and basic fabrication tools.
  • Reading blueprints preferred; lean/sigma experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate equipment accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follow SOPs and guidelines; maintain attention to detail.
  • Use hand tools and fabrication equipment for stainless steel work.
  • Operate orbital welding, TIG welding, cutting, polishing, bending, and assembly tasks.
  • Operate overhead crane and forklift; ensure safety and equipment upkeep.
  • Travel as required and contribute to continuous improvement.

Position Summary:

The Welder/Fabricator will follow process instructions and blueprints to assemble components and in conjunction works with other departments to build and repair equipment for the biopharmaceutical industry. The fabricator will execute the required operational steps in manufacturing mechanical systems and have the chance to work in a fast-paced environment on industry-leading equipment.

Responsibilities:
  • Fabricate equipment accurately and with proper procedures in a timely manner.
  • Ability to carry out procedures in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Guidelines (GDLs)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fabrication process
  • Knowledge of all types of hand tools, fabricating equipment, measuring devices
  • Work on stainless steel and DC fabrication, including to but not limited to:
  1. Orbital welding and Tig Hand Welding
  2. Cutting tube
  3. Operate hand grinders
  4. Polishing
  5. Bending
  6. Assembly
  • Operate overhead crane and/or forklift.
  • Physically capable of wearing protective eye, ear, and head gear.
  • Must be able to stand 8+ hours per day.
  • Inspect and maintain proper and safe operation of all shop equipment.
  • Conduct operations in a safe manner.
  • Recommend improvements.
  • Execute other tasks as assigned.
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunity.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years previous Fabrication experience preferred.
  • Required to be able to perform simple math equations.
  • Must be able to read a tape measure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills.
  • Must be proficient with the use of hand tools and basic fabrication tools.
  • Proficiency in reading blueprints preferred.
  • Necessary to be able to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds / 23 kilograms.
  • Typically work is in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site.
  • Required to stand for long periods of time.
  • You will need to be able to stand, sit, walk, bend, stoop, reach, lift, push, pull, and carry items.
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment. Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus.
  • Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
