Responsibilities

• Weld steel components according to specifications and quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, drawings, and production schedules.
• Assemble and fit parts prior to welding.
• Operate welding equipment, grinders, saws, and other fabrication tools safely and effectively.
• Inspect completed welds and manufactured components for quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Maintain productivity while producing quality workmanship.
• Follow established safety procedures and wear required PPE.
• Identify and report equipment issues, material shortages, quality concerns, and safety hazards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Assist with material handling and movement of components throughout the production process.
• Participate in cross-training and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support team members and assist in other production areas as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Description

The Welder is responsible for fabricating, assembling, and welding metal components used in the production of wire mesh partitions, guards, enclosures, storage systems, and related products. This position requires the ability to read work orders and drawings, operate welding equipment safely, maintain quality standards, and contribute to an efficient production environment while supporting SpaceGuard's commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform welding of steel components according to specifications and quality standards.
• Read and interpret blueprints, work orders, drawings, and production schedules.
• Assemble and fit parts prior to welding.
• Operate welding equipment, grinders, saws, and other fabrication tools safely and effectively.
• Inspect completed welds and manufactured components for quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Maintain productivity expectations while producing quality workmanship.
• Follow established safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify and report equipment issues, material shortages, quality concerns, and safety hazards.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with housekeeping standards.
• Assist with material handling and movement of components throughout the production process.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, and kneeling.
• Ability to safely use required PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and welding helmet.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a manufacturing and fabrication environment. Employees are regularly exposed to moving machinery, welding equipment, metal materials, and varying temperatures. Strict adherence to safety procedures is required at all times.
