Job summary

Pottsville Quarry and Asphalt is seeking a Welder to fabricate and repair metal components in a fast-paced shop environment. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, team-oriented, motivated, and proactive.

Responsibilities include reading prints, measuring, cutting, fitting, tacking, welding and polishing various metals using SMAW, GTAW, GCAW, and GMAW processes; ensuring OSHA/MSHA safety policies; and coordinating with shop foreman to complete daily tasks.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 2 years related experience.
• Able to use mechanic hand tools and welding equipment (SMAW, GTAW, GCAW, GMAW).
• Valid driver license.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; good communication.
• Efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Reads prints, then measures, cuts, fits, tacks, welds, and polishes various types of metals by varying types of process.
• Receives direction from shop foreman on fabrication/repair plans for the day.
• Evaluates the job to verify supplies are on hand to complete the task.
• Tracks progress and communicates issues that affect production.
• Suggests improvements in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.
• Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs all work according to OSHA/MSHA and H&K Safety policies
• Receives direction orally or written from shop foreman on plans of fabrication or repair for the day’s tasks.
• Evaluates the job to verify that supplies are on hand to complete the task.
• Tracks progress and communicates with supervisors in the event of an unscheduled repair requirement that would lead to the loss of production that would otherwise be completed as scheduled.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the job.
• Reads prints, then measures, cuts, fits, tacks, welds, and polishes various types of metals by varying types of process.
• Other duties may be assigned

Qualifications

Required Skills, Education, and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution OR 2 years of related experience and/or training
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered
• Able to use mechanics hand tools, welder (SMAW, GTAW, GCAW, GMAW), plasma cutter, and torches
• Valid driver license
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Efficiency, accuracy, and responsibility

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience

• Degree (such as bachelor or associate) or certificate welding or related program from an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school
• 3 years related experience
• AWS D1.1 or AWS D1.2 Certification
• Experience in Wastewater services, heavy civil construction, or other heavy industry
