Job summary

Ohio Laser, Inc. is seeking a full-time MIG welder responsible for assembling and welding fixtures per blueprints. You will adjust machines, load materials, weld parts, inspect first pieces, and document outcomes while following the established quality program.

Job description

Position Description

Position, fixture and manually weld parts to blueprints and specifications using MIG welding processes. Alter as necessary, make necessary machine adjustments, load material, weld first item, inspect & document. Adjust process if necessary. Complete entire operation, de-burr, skid or box, deliver to shipping. Post material used and time, follow quality program and close work order operation. Complete other duties as assigned.

Skills Required
  • Ability to pass the Ohio Laser welding procedure
  • Basic computer skills-Windows operating system
  • Blueprint and weld symbol reading
  • Weld distortion control - advanced
  • Teamwork
  • Follow work order instruction to complete part processing operation with part counts
  • Maintain lift truck operators license
  • Understanding of quality program
  • Advanced working knowledge of welding power supply and all welding parameters required to optimally process the wide variety of materials processed
  • Material identification ability to facilitate selecting and transport from storage to machine
  • Perform "First Piece" inspections and document as forms and work orders require
  • Properly use and care for precision tools necessary to inspect and document the qualifications of the processed parts to their specifications. Tools include micrometers, calipers, pin gages, precision gage blocks, protractor, granite plate, feeler gages, and height gage.
  • Perform and document routine maintenance on machine. This includes cleaning, nozzles, and the machine in general. Lubricate as described in operators manuals. Replace filters. Change gases as necessary, return empty cylinder to storage. Record and report all errors encountered on controller.
  • Empty dust collector daily or weekly & empty scrap pans daily
  • De- tab and de-burr parts with grinders and sander as per drawing
  • Any other assigned tasks
  • Keep machine and work area clean, neat and orderly
  • Wear safety equipment and follow all safety rules
  • Follow Ohio Laser Inc. rules as stipulated in the employee manual
  • Ability to develop advanced welding procedures and processes
  • Assemble parts as per drawing

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour
