Legrand is seeking a Welder to join the Lighting and Controls Team in St. Louis, MO. The role involves setting up and operating a TIG welder to join cold rolled steel and aluminum parts, following blueprints and templates to ensure high-quality welds.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years TIG welding experience, expertise with sheet metal and metals, and strong measuring and blueprint-reading skills. Team-focused, safety-conscious, and able to work on-site in Saint Louis.

Qualifications

  • Advanced welding certification or degree preferred.
  • 2+ years TIG welding experience.
  • Experience with sheet metal, mild steel/stainless steel/aluminum.
  • Able to read blueprints and lay out work as required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate TIG welder to produce quality seam and tack welds.
  • Weld steel and aluminum from blueprints and templates.
  • Set up tools, gauges and stops and align parts for close tolerance.
  • Maintain safety rules and good housekeeping in work areas.
  • Assist in training and cross-training as needed.
  • Report abnormalities in machines, programs, materials, quality and/or processes.
  • Strive for continuous quality and productivity improvements.

Job Description

Legrandhas an exciting opportunity for a Welder to join the Lighting and Controls Team inSt. Louis, MO. The Welder will set-up and operate TIG/welding equipment; weld cold rolled steel and aluminum.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize hand TIG welder to consistently produce quality seam and tack welds
  • Working from ordinary blueprints, layouts, sketches, templates and/or instructions, operate hand TIG welder to produce high-quality lightweight to heavyweight weld assemblies
  • Sets tools, gauges and stops and align work for close tolerance
  • Check work using simple scales, calipers and/or other measuring tools to maintain quality
  • Assist in maintaining tools, fixtures, jigs and equipment in a cost-effective manner
  • Assist in down- or upstream operation to maintain a consistent workflow throughout the process of each job
  • Follow safety rules, safe operating procedures and practices; help ensure all employees follow safety rules, procedures and practices
  • Maintain good housekeeping conditions in work areas
  • Active participation in on-going individual training/development program(s)
  • Engage in training of employees and cross-training, perform backup functions to other department members as instructed
  • Set goals and objectives with Supervisor; look for ways to improve quality and productivity
  • Report abnormalities in machines, programs, materials, quality and/or processes
  • Must be accountable for own quality and efficiency of work
Qualifications

Education:

  • Advanced Welding certification or degree from accredited school is strongly preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • 2+ years sheet metal TIG welding experience with specific knowledge of heat settings, speeds and other control factors relative to effective TIG applications.
  • Experience working with sheet metal, mild steel/stainless steel/aluminum.
  • Dimensional measuring and simple math competence with excellent dexterity and deftness skills.
  • Prior experience using calipers, micrometers and other measuring tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and lay out work as required.
