Job summary

STARCON International, Inc. is looking for skilled welders to perform x-ray quality welding in various positions using SMAW and GTAW processes. Candidates must have the ability to read and understand isometric drawings and WPS/PQR documents. The job requires basic mathematical skills for accurate measurements and the ability to work in confined spaces and awkward positions.

Strong welding skills and the ability to conduct field measurements and adjustments are essential for this role. Successful candidates will be capable of passing required weld tests and managing their own jobs on site.

Qualifications

• 2” GTAW .688” coupon (100% X-ray) – Standard test.
• 2” GTAW root & hot, SMAW 7018 fill & cap (100% X-ray) – Standard test.
• Ability to conduct field determinations of measurements.

Responsibilities

• Perform x-ray quality welding using SMAW and GTAW processes.
• Weld piping, structural steel, and supports.
• Verify fit-ups and dimensions for accuracy.

Job Description

Perform x‑ray quality welding in all positions with SMAW and GTAW processes using a variety of electrodes. Weld piping, structural steel, and supports. Basic understanding of isometric drawings and blueprints. Ability to read and understand WPS/PQR documents. Competent to verify fit‑ups and dimensions. Mathematical skills as they pertain to execution of work tasks. Able to pass required weld tests given by Starcon or client. Welding in confined spaces and awkward positions.

• 2” GTAW .688” coupon (100% X‑ray) – Standard test
• 2” GTAW root & hot, SMAW 7018 fill & cap (100% X‑ray) – Standard test
• 4” S/80 GTAW 35/45 to 25/35 in convection box simulation (100% X‑ray) – add for tube welder
• 4” S/80 GTAW 800HT to 304 in convection box simulation (100% X‑ray) – add tube welder
• Ability to conduct field determinations of measurements, fabricate, modify, and/or revise piping per sketches, isometric drawings, and blueprints.
• Basic rigging knowledge associated with moving piping details and fittings.
• Must set up own jobs, string welding leads, build fireboxes in prep for welding, etc.
