Job summary

MCR Services, Inc. seeks a skilled welder to join our shop team. You will use hand-welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld or join metal components and fill holes, indentations, or seams in fabricated metal products.

The role requires adherence to safety standards, ability to read blueprints, measure dimensions, and work in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Training includes OSHA 10 and a commitment to quality workmanship.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Operate safety equipment and maintain safe work habits.
  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts using measuring tools.
  • Measure dimensions of finished products to verify specifications.
  • Recognize, set up, and operate welding equipment such as SMAW and GMAW.
  • Weld using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys.
  • Select production equipment according to product specifications.
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods using metallurgy knowledge.
  • Monitor equipment operation to prevent defects.
  • Review blueprints or instructions to determine methods.
  • Chip or grind excess weld, slag, or spatter.
  • Clean workpieces or finished products.
  • Repair products by dismantling and reassembling parts.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Job Description

  • Lay out, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
  • Measure dimensions of completed products or workpieces to verify conformance to specifications .
  • Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
  • Weld separately or in combination, using aluminum, stainless steel, cast iron, and other alloys .
  • Select production equipment according to product specifications.
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Monitor equipment operation to ensure that products are not flawed.
  • Review blueprints or other instructions to determine operational methods or sequences.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or spatter, using hand scrapers or power chippers, portable grinders, or arc-cutting equipment.
  • Clean workpieces or finished products.
  • Repair products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts, using cutting torches, straightening presses, and hand tools.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned.

Must have, or be able to obtain, OSHA 10 certification.
