Overview

Welder position in the Fire Fabrication shop at Progressive Pipe Fabricators. Uses a universal welder to make cuts and welds on steel pipe.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings
• Take measurements to plan layouts
• Set up welding machine according to specifications
• Weld components using semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Test welds to ensure quality
• Weld by hand any leaks found in quality penetration tests
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• 4+ years of welding experience
• Read a tape measure
• Pipe welding experience and welding certificates a plus
• Dependable with good attendance and a positive attitude
• Good work ethic and willingness to learn
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
• Ability to work Saturdays (availability will affect attendance record)
• Must be 18 years or older
• Attention to detail; ability to follow directions and communicate with others
• Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 50 lbs regularly
• Ability to stand, bend, twist, and walk for 8-12 hour shifts
• Ability to pass a drug test
• Regular and reliable attendance; ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
