Job summary

OPW in Minnesota is seeking a skilled assembler/welder to lay out, fit, and weld complex piping and spool pieces. You will work with arc, TIG, and submerged arc welding processes and interpret blueprints to ensure tight tolerances.

High school diploma or GED required, with 3+ years of related experience; technical training preferred. ASME qualification may be needed, and accuracy with drawings is essential. This is an on-site, full-time role in a manufacturing setting.

• Must be able to qualify for ASME Code welding.

Responsibilities

• Lay out, position, align, and fit components for welding.
• Weld and rework products using arc, GTAW-ARC (TIG), submerged arc, or similar processes.
• Inspect weld bead size and finish and verify against drawings/specs.
• Assemble spool pieces into final assemblies per drawings and specs.
• Set up equipment and weld parts using approved welding processes.

Other duties may be assigned.Selects equipment and plans layout, assembles, and welds.Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits components together.Fabricates from sketches, blueprints or instruction.Bolts, clamps, and tack-welds parts to secure in position for welding.Sets up equipment and welds parts, using arc, GTAW-ARC (TIG) welding, submerged arc, or other welding process used by company.Repairs/reworks products by dismantling, straightening, reshaping, and reassembling parts.Uses hand and power tools to perform work.Examines weld for bead size and other visual specifications.Lays out, positions, and tack welds work pieces for fit-up.Welds along vertical or overhead weld lines.Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.Assembles completed spool pieces into final assemblies per drawings and spec sheets.Be able to qualify for ASME Code welding as required.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
