Job summary

Wastequip Steel Division has an immediate Welder opening in Lakeland, FL. The role requires MIG welding in a fast-paced manufacturing setting, reading blueprints, and basic math skills. You will position parts, tack weld, and inspect welds for quality while handling gas regulators for cutting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required or preferred.
  • 1–6 months of related welding experience or training.
  • Ability to read simple instructions, memos, and short correspondence.
  • Knowledge of basic math, tape measure reading, fractions & decimals.
  • Ability to read blueprints and measuring tape.

Responsibilities

  • Position parts in jigs or fixtures and tack weld as per layout marks.
  • Weld along vertical, horizontal, and overhead lines.
  • Connect regulator valves for cutting torch and adjust gas flow.
  • Hold and guide torch at proper angle to cut metal.
  • Examine welds for bead size and specs; scar or groove welds as needed.
  • Chip or grind off excess weld, slag, or splatter; keep work area safe.

The ideal candidate will be a MIG Welder with prior experience in a manufacturing environment.**Pay Rate: $20.04****Responsibilities*** Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks* Lays out, positions, and tack welds work pieces* Welds along vertical, horizontal, and overhead weld lines* Connects regulator valves to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders for cutting torch. Turns regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch, and adjusts gas mixture and pressure to obtain desired flame.
