Job summary

Ohmstede Ltd is seeking an experienced welder to fabricate shell and tube heat exchangers and all required components on a shop floor. You will operate SMAW, GTAW, SAW, and FCAW processes to assemble exchangers according to WPS specifications.

Responsibilities include welding tubes to tubesheets, shell and bundle fabrication, and ensuring quality through QC checks and proper cleanup of welds, while maintaining a safe work environment and compliance with EHS standards.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent; or equivalent experience, sufficient product knowledge/welding procedures.
• Must read and write English to read weld procedures and fabrication drawings and requirements.
• Must be proficient in at least 2 of the 4 welding disciplines listed and pass ASME welding test.
• Heat exchanger job shop or field fabrication experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform combo welding of all components and complete exchanger units.
• Shell and bundle component fabrication.
• Shell assembly and fabrication.
• Weld tubes to tubesheets.
• Follow parameters of the assigned WPS (amperage, preheat & interpass temperatures, consumable size, travel speed).
• Perform safety practices and PPE adherence.
• Quality control of welds (size, undercut, buckshot).
• Grinding/cleaning of welds to meet standards.
• Correct non-conforming welds as necessary.
• Follow QC and traceability for each job/WO.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area.
• Perform other duties and welding methods as assigned.

Job Summary

Ohmstede Ltd is looking for an individual to fabricate shell and tube heat exchangers and all required components. This will include the use of SMAW, GTAW, SAW, and FCAW processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform combo welding of all components and complete exchanger units.
• Shell and bundle component fabrication
• Shell assembly and fabrication
• Weld tubes to tubesheets
• Follow the parameters of the assigned WPS for each job (amperage, preheat & interpass temperatures, consumable size, and travel speed, etc).
• Perform assigned tasks in a safe manner, following EHS requirements relating to PPE and Safe Working Practices.
• Perform personal quality control of your welds (required weld type and size, no undercut, buckshot, etc).
• Perform grinding and/or cleaning of welds as necessary to achieve standards.
• Correct non-conforming welds as necessary.
• Follow weld shop practices relating to QC requirements and consumable traceability for each job/WO.
• Use broom and other cleaning equipment to maintain the work area in a clean, safe, and orderly environment.
• Perform other duties and welding methods as assigned by supervision.

Qualifications

Knowledge - H.S. diploma or equivalent; or equivalent experience, sufficient product knowledge/welding procedures.

Skills - Must read and write English language in order to read weld procedures and fabrication drawings and requirements. Must be proficient in at least 2 of the 4 required welding disciplines listed above (Basic Function) and able to pass ASME welding test.

Heat exchanger job shop or field fabrication experience preferred.

Required Tools - Hood, steel measuring tape, wire cutters, center punch, gloves, ball pein hammer, hex key wrenches, adequate tool box.
