Job summary

United Rentals is seeking a Welder to maintain and repair shoring and shielding equipment, ensuring rental readiness and safety. You will support trench safety equipment, work on-site or in our facility, and strive to advance within the Service Department through dedication and quality work.

The role requires welding certification, 1–2 years of Arc/MIG/TIG experience, and a commitment to customer service and safety on every job.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Welding school certification required.
• 1–2 years of Arc, MIG and TIG welding experience.
• Knowledge of metals and materials for shoring, shielding, and slide rail repairs.
• Ability to identify welder type and wire/rod size for safe repairs.

Responsibilities

• Layout and apply the appropriate weld type per engineering/manufacturing specs.
• Inspect, repair and paint rental equipment to be rental ready and safe.
• Perform non-structural repairs per manufacturer specs.
• Provide active shoring installation welding support on job sites.
• Fabricate projects in the facility as required.
• Travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance when needed.
• Complete work orders and maintain related spare parts inventory.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Fulfill other duties as needed.

As a Welder at United Rentals, you will maintain and repair shoring and shielding equipment to maximize branch productivity. You'll be dedicated to the service of Trench Safety rental equipment. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What you'll do:

• Layout and apply the appropriate weld type, as per engineering or manufacturing specifications


• Inspect, repair and paint all rental equipment upon return to ensure that it is rental ready and safe for use


• Perform non-structural repairs or modifications to rental equipment per manufacturer's specifications


• Perform active shoring installation welding support on job sites


• Fabricate projects in the facility as required


• When required, travel to customer sites for repair/maintenance of equipment


• Complete work orders on equipment service and maintain an inventory of related parts for repair


• Ensure a clean and safe working environment


• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent


• Welding school certification


• Minimum 1-2 years' experience in Arc, MIG and TIG welding


• Knowledge of metals and materials needed to perform repairs on all shoring, shielding, and slide rail applications


• Must be able to burn efficiently and with good quality


• Must be able to identify the type of welder, and wire or rod size, needed to complete safe repairs


• Knowledge of OSHA applicable state and local requirements relative to trench and excavation shoring and shielding


• Knowledge of underground construction equipment capabilities and OSHA safe working practices


• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills


• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record


• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
