Job Description
The Welder reports to the Yard Manager and assists the Branch Operations Manager. The Welder is responsible for assigned, hands-on tasks ensuring accuracy and efficiency, while upholding safety and quality standards within the yard (including the reconditioning and/or welding area and the warehouse).
Welder Responsibilities
- Able to read and understand fabrication drawings.
- Consistently operates tools and equipment in a safe manner.
- Maintains a valid welding certification.
- Ensures equipment is properly placed and returned to its proper storage location.
- Assists in maintaining an organized and efficient yard.
- Work productively as a member of the team.
- Takes responsibility for the proper use, maintenance and safety of all tools and equipment.
- Complies with Doka Standards regarding quality, safety, accuracy, productivity, etc.
- Participates in all physical stock taking to ensure inventory and maintains daily interaction with yard staff, truck drivers and management.
- Consistently uses approved safety equipment (PPE).
- Asks questions and ensures continual training in product knowledge.
- Ensures proper disposal of all damaged/scrap material in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Complies with company cleanliness and housekeeping standards.
- Safely performs pushing, pulling, and lifting tasks to upwards of 100 lbs or more with proper equipment.
- Ensures equipment is functioning properly and is placed and returned to its proper storage location.
Other Responsibilities / Peripheral Functions
- Maintain current welding certification at all times.
- Properly wears all required personal protective equipment.
- Immediately reports all incidents, accidents, unsafe conditions, problems or concerns to the immediate supervisor.
- Willingly participates in all mandatory training classes.
- Safely operates forklift.
- Maintains a clean, well-maintained and organized work area.
- Complies with all safety requirements.
- Flexible to work overtime as required.
- Other duties/projects as assigned; including participating in company committees/teams.
- Complies with all company policies, business and safety practices.
Qualifications / Technical Proficiency
- Possesses valid welding certification.
- High school graduate.
- Previous experience in a construction or building materials yard a plus.
- Excellent communication skills including command of English (speaking, reading, writing).
- Qualitative abilities including strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
- Willing and able to learn new products, concepts and techniques.
- Collaborative and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment geared toward results.
Working Conditions
Working conditions vary with extreme outdoor temperatures and inclement weather; high noise levels in certain areas. The role is physically demanding and requires regular use of hands and arms, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling and crouching.
Additional Information
In accordance with applicable state and local pay transparency laws, Doka USA Ltd. is committed to providing a clear and equitable compensation structure. The hourly rate for this position is $32.23/hr.
This range represents base pay and does not include potential bonuses, commissions, benefits, or other forms of compensation. Final compensation will be determined at the time of offer and in accordance with internal equity and market data.
