Job summary

W International in Goose Creek, SC is seeking an experienced welder to join our fabrication team working on critical aerospace and defense projects. The role requires D1.1 code welding, NAVSEA 1688 experience, and the ability to read prints and weld symbols.

You will set up welding machines per WPS, pass bend tests, and assist senior welders while maintaining quality and safety standards. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• US citizen required.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to work more than 40 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Reports directly to the Weld Supervisor.
• Set up welding machine in accordance with and fully understand of WPS.
• Pass D1.1 bend test for 1.0" A-36 plate.
• Pass 1688 HY80 bend test for 2" plate.
• Use grinder for proper pre-weld joint preparation and post-weld clean-up.
• Interpret weld symbols and build prints.
• VT own welds.
• Pass Welder Workmanship Training.
• Use hand tools including measuring devices.
• Verify conformance of work piece to specifications.
• Distinguish varying thicknesses of metal materials.
• Assist senior Welder/Fabricators when needed.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE:

Qualifications and Education Requirements

• Must be able to lift as much as 50lbs and have the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, walk and stand for extended periods of time.
• Willing to work in excess of 40 hours a week
• High school or equivalent

PREFERRED SKILLS

• 4+ years of D1.1 Code welding or equivalent
• NAVSEA 1688 weld experience
• GMAW, GTAM, and SMAW ability
