Job summary

All American Waste in East Haven, CT, is seeking a Welder to join our fast-paced production team for evening shifts (Sun–Thu, 6:00 pm–4:00 am). The role involves fabricating and repairing metal waste containers, vehicle assemblies, and facility components, with gas and electric welding and brazing/soldering as needed.

Required are 1+ year welding/fabrication experience, safe-work habits, forklift experience, a valid driver’s license, and willingness to obtain a CDL.

Qualifications

  • At least one year of welding, fabrication, and painting experience.
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for safe work habits.
  • Forklift experience.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL preferred.
  • Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn; proactive and independent thinker.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, modifies, or fabricates metal waste containers, vehicle assemblies, and facility components.
  • Cuts, fits, and welds using gas and electric equipment.
  • Performs brazing and soldering as required.
  • Operates machines and tools in repair areas; may operate heavy equipment.
  • Maintain safety and participate in weekly safety meetings.
  • Maintain attendance and adapt to changing duties as needed.

Position Summary

The Welder works in a fast-paced, results-oriented production environment and is responsible for reporting on a variety of items, including garbage, recycling, yard waste containers, vehicle assemblies, and facilities components. This position schedule is Sunday-Thursday, 6:00 pm-4:00 am.

Your Role
  • Repairs, modifies, or fabricates a variety of metal w,ork including waste containers, vehicle assemblies, and facility components.
  • Cuts, fits, and welds using gas and electric equipment.
  • Performs skilled brazing and soldering.
  • Uses a variety of machines and equipment in and out of repair areas.
  • May operate heavy equipment as needed.
  • Take an active role in the improvement of safety and health in the workplace.
  • Participate in all required Company meetings, including weekly safety meetings.
  • Maintains reasonable, regular, punctual attendance consistent with Company policies, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Adapts to changing duties, as required, based on business needs.
Your Skills
  • Knowledge of tools and methods of gas and electric welding
  • Ability to work in a variety of indoor and outdoor conditions.
  • Ability to take and understand oral instructions.
  • Reliability and dependability.
Requirements
  • At least one year of welding, fabrication, and painting experience
  • Knowledge of and appreciation for safe work habits
  • Forklift experience
  • Valid driver's license
  • Hold an appropriate CDL or be willing to obtain an appropriate CDL
  • Gritty, outgoing, and eager to learn.
