Job summary

Gulf Crane Services, INC is seeking a skilled welder to perform welding per Work Order and to maintain welding equipment. The role requires safety-minded individuals who can operate hand tools and lifting devices, and who can read fabrication drawings.

Welds may be in flat, vertical, or overhead positions, with knowledge of metallurgy and welding techniques. Offshore training may be required for certain projects, with strict safety standards in place.

Qualifications

  • High School graduate, GED, or relevant experience.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to weld procedures for applicable methods or technique.
  • Must be able to use hand tools safely and practice safety in the work area.
  • Must possess the ability to operate handling and lifting devices.

Responsibilities

  • Weld components in accordance with the Work Order.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of welding equipment.
  • Ensure safety of personnel and safe operation of welding equipment.
  • Notify supervisory personnel if a nonconforming condition is disclosed.
  • Welds in flat, vertical, or overhead positions and can heat, form, and dress metal parts with tools or arc welding equipment.
  • Determine required equipment and welding method using metallurgy, geometry, and welding knowledge.
  • Remove rough spots from pieces using grinders or files.
  • Interpret fabrication drawings to select proper welding materials.
  • Verify workmanship for size, location, and quality.
  • Verify materials, consumables, and cleanliness of components assigned.

Job description

  • Weld in accordance with established welding procedures and ensure welds comply with cycle time requirements and acceptability requirements.
  • Knowledgeable of machines, tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform welding of components in accordance with the applicable Work Order.
  • Perform the appropriate preventive and corrective maintenance of welding equipment.
  • Responsible for the safety of personnel and safe operation of welding equipment.
  • Responsible for notifying supervisory personnel if a nonconforming condition is disclosed.
  • Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions. Is able to heat, form, and dress metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment
  • Determines required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper.
  • Responsible for the interpretation of fabrication drawings to the extent necessary to utilize proper welding materials.
  • Responsible for verification of workmanship in relation to size, location and quality.
  • Responsible for verification of materials, consumables and cleanliness of components assigned in their respective work area.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School graduate, hold GED certificate, or industry related experience.
  • Must demonstrate the ability by qualification to weld procedures for applicable methods or technique.
  • Must possess the ability to utilize necessary hand tools and practice safety in the work area.
  • Must possess the ability to operate handling and lifting devices.
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Disclaimer: Some shop workers are not trained for offshore work at the time of their initial hire. Additional training would be required if that worker would be requested to work offshore.
Physical Requirements:
  • Climbing - off and on throughout the day
  • Language - Must be able to write and speak English
  • Drug and Alcohol Screen - GCS has a "Zero Tolerance" program
  • Pulling - your own weight along a vertical ladder or horizontal plain
