Wabtec in Duquesne, PA is seeking a Welder to join the Heat Transfer & Energy Solutions team. You will follow drawings and instructions to assemble a wide variety of TTC products, ensuring quality, safety, and continuous process improvements on a daily basis.

The role requires TIG and GMAW short arc welding expertise, ability to read blueprints, and clear communication. Must have a high school diploma; trade school is a plus. On-site work with potential shift flexibility.

Qualifications

  • TIG and GMAW short arc experience is required.
  • Stainless steel welding experience is a plus.
  • Must pass the welding test specific to type, material and position within the TTC quality system.

Who will you be working with?

You will work with a broad range of talented individuals delivering quality products in a timely manner at our Thermal Transfer Group business unit. You’ll partner with professionals across multiple departments and work alongside other Assemblers, Operators, and Welders.

As a member of the Heat Transfer & Energy Solutions team, you will be responsible for providing services and support to internal and external customers and suppliers to ensure materials, processes and products meet or exceed specifications. This position is based at our Duquesne, PA location and reports directly to the Shop Supervisor.

Job Description
How will you make a difference?

As a Welder, you will follow specified work instructions and/or engineering parts drawings to assemble a wide variety of products. You will be responsible for the quality of your work, and meeting production standards. You will continually look for ways to improve our production processes and make Safety your #1 priority every day.

What will your typical day look like?
  • Use all company owned methods of operating machinery, i.e., forklifts/trucks, jib cranes, overhead cranes, etc., and must be willing to train and adapt to new systems.
  • Perform as a Welder/Operator/Laborer as needed and can transition in and out of various positions as required by the company.
  • Use hand tools such as grinders, sanders, etc.
  • Follow and adheres to all safety rules and topics. Perform duties in a safe and efficient manner.
Work Schedule:

Must be able to work multiple shifts if needed.

  • Day Shift: 5:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday thru Thursday
  • Second Shift: 3:30 pm to 2:00 am Monday afternoon thru Friday morning
Qualifications
What do we want to know about you?

Do you have the following required skills and education?

  • The welder must be able to perform the qualified welds with a high degree of quality and efficiency on TTC products.
  • TIG and GMAW short arc experience is required.
  • Stainless steel welding experience a plus.
  • Must successfully complete the required welding test, specific to type, material and position which allows the welder to be qualified within the TTC quality system.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be able to comprehend, speak and write the English language.
  • Must possess good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to read and correctly interpret blueprints.
  • Must be able to maintain attendance as defined by the company policy.
  • High School Diploma or related equivalent required.
  • Trade school certificate or related equivalent preferred.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.
Physical Demands and Requirements for this position are:
  • Heavy work.
  • Frequent standing, walking, handling, reaching outward, lifting 15lbs or less.
  • Occasionally sitting, squatting/kneeling, bending, lifting to 50lbs or more, exposure to cold/heat/humidity, loud noises, and dust or vapors within OSHA limits.
  • Vision abilities include close and distance vision, color distinction, and observe small handwriting, labels, and components.
  • Employees are always required to wear all personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by the facility including steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs.
  • The position requires the employee to be on-site during scheduled shift to perform daily duties and responsibilities.
  • Employees will be working in the typical conditions of a manufacturing environment including seasonal variation in temperatures

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

Additional Information

Wabtec will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in the U.S. for this opening. Any offer of employment is conditioned upon the successful completion of a drug screen (as applicable) and fitness for duty test (as applicable).

The hourly pay range for this role is $23.00 to $28.00.

The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
