Job summary

Martin Marietta is seeking a Welder with experience in welding, fabrication, and maintenance of aggregate or heavy equipment to join our maintenance team. You will perform welding and fabrication on crushers, conveyors, screens, and other plant machinery to maintain reliability.

This position requires vocational training or equivalent experience, and at least 1 year of related work; adherence to MSHA safety standards is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and evaluate plant and mobile equipment for safety hazards, defects, or wear requiring repair or welding.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and repair on structural and mechanical components using FCAW, GMAW, SMAW, and SAW; fabricate/install guards and assemblies.
  • Fabricate and install new parts, guards, and structural supports.
  • Cut, grind, and prepare metal surfaces for welding.
  • Repair worn or damaged components on crushers, conveyors, screens, and plant systems.
  • Assist with alignment and assembly during rebuilds or installations.
  • Support preventive maintenance tasks including lubrication, bolt tightening, and minor mechanical adjustments.
  • Follow MSHA safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance and repair records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with plant leadership and vendors on major repairs and equipment installations.
  • Adhere to safety policies and participate in plant safety initiatives.
  • Perform other duties to support plant operations and maintenance.

Job description

The Welderis responsible forperforming high-quality welding and fabrication work tomaintain, repair, and improve plant and mobile equipment. This role ensures structural integrity and operational reliability by executing welding tasks on crushers, conveyors, screens, and other heavy machinery components.TheWelderfabricates, installs, andmodifiesmetal structures, conducts equipment inspections, andassistswith preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment life. This rolealso supports preventive maintenance and collaborates with maintenance teams to enhance safety.Collaboration withmaintenance teams, supervisors, and vendors is essential to ensure quality workmanship, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across all maintenance activities.

KEYDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES

  • Fabricate and install new parts, guards, and structural support as needed.
  • Cut, grind, and prepare metal surfaces for welding using oxy-fuel torches and power tools.
  • Repair worn or damaged components on crushers, conveyors, screens, and other plant systems.
  • Assistwith alignment and assembly of plant machinery during rebuilds or installations.
  • Support preventive maintenance tasks including lubrication, bolt tightening, and minor mechanical adjustments.
  • Follow MSHA safety standards and company policies.
  • Maintain detailed maintenance and repair records, ensuring all documentation and quality control reports are completed accurately.
  • Use andmaintainshand tools, power tools, and welding equipment in safe, working conditions.
  • Collaborates with plant leadership and vendors to support major repairs, maintenance projects, and equipment installations.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies andparticipatein plant safety initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support plant operations and maintenance needs.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. for plant maintenance and equipment servicing.

Required to bend, stoop, climb, and reach. You must be able tomaintainthree points of contact when climbing on/off machinery or on ladders.

Strong hand-eye-foot coordination is essential for operating hand/foot controls. You must have good depthperceptionwith or without seeing aid for distances up to 150 feet.

Working Conditions

All duties require outside assignmentsand requireperiods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet,dryand dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85dbs.

COMPENSATION

The hiring range for this position is $33.00 -$46.00 exclusive of benefits or bonuses (discretionary and non-discretionary). The offered base compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, business need, market conditions, proficiencies, skills, education, and experience. Additionally, at Martin Marietta we place a high value on internal pay equity and will consider the compensation for those in similarly situated roles and direct team members. The hiring range for this role represents the base compensation we expect to pay for the position at time of hire and does not represent the total possible base pay of the position.
