Qualifications

  • Basic computer skills; ERP/MRP experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor daily weld shop schedules and track progress to ensure timely completion.
  • Act as primary contact between welders, supervisors, and production management to resolve bottlenecks.
  • Verify accuracy of work orders, drawings, and materials before welding release.
  • Coordinate with material handlers to ensure parts and consumables are available.
  • Expedite rework or priority jobs to meet customer deadlines.
  • Maintain documentation of work order status and communicate updates daily.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, paint, and assembly to ensure smooth workflow.

Overview

Global Power Components is a privately held, growing manufacturer of UL heavy gauge steel fuel tanks, trailers, large generator enclosures, and modular metal enclosures for housing fully-equipped electrical distribution and control equipment. As a result of our expansion, we are looking for a Weld Expediter to join our growing team. We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and organized professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The Weld Expediter will play a key role in coordinating, monitoring, and ensuring the timely flow of welded components through the fabrication process. This position requires strong communication, problem-solving skills, and collaboration with production, engineering, and quality teams to ensure deadlines are met without compromising safety or quality.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor daily weld shop schedules and track progress of welded components to ensure timely completion.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between welders, supervisors, and production management to resolve bottlenecks and prioritize workload.
  • Verify accuracy of work orders, drawings, and materials before components are released to welding.
  • Coordinate with material handlers and inventory to ensure parts, fixtures, and consumables are available for welders.
  • Expedite rework or priority jobs as required to meet customer deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work order status and communicate updates to leadership daily.
  • Collaborate with fabrication, paint, and assembly departments to ensure smooth workflow throughout production.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or welding coursework preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing or welding environment.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes, fabrication, and metalwork.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, work orders, and welding symbols.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to adapt in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, ERP/MRP system experience preferred).
  • Must be reliable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently while supporting team goals.
  • Ability to walk, bend, and stand for long periods; capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. as needed.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to drive legally between manufacturing locations (all in greater Milwaukee).
