Job summary

Gestamp Holding Mexico Sl in United States, SC, is seeking a Weld Engineering Supervisor to oversee manufacturing operations in an automotive stamping and robotic-welding environment. You will drive process improvements, ensure weld system integrity, and support maintenance and audits.

The role requires strong supervisory experience, a welding-related degree, and 7+ years in welding/robotics. You will lead projects, liaise with vendors, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• BS in Welding Engineering or electrical/technical discipline with 3 years in welding/robotics.
• AS in Welding Technology with 5 years welding/robotics experience.
• 7+ years in a similar welding/robotics role and training.
• Prior supervisory experience in a related environment.

Responsibilities

• Implement process improvements for Resistance and GMAW systems using current welding tech.
• Maintain welding systems to specifications and interpret manufacturability specs.
• Support maintenance activities and train maintenance technicians from welding perspective.
• Collect downtime data and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
• Manage and execute in-house projects for new engineering changes.
• Liaise with vendors regarding software/hardware updates and troubleshooting.
• Participate in Layered Process Audit schedule.
• Participate in ISO 9001/IATF 16949 internal audit schedules.
• Assist audits and provide information related to ISO/IATF, VDA 6.3, customer standards.
• Complete other duties as required.

Weld Engineering Supervisor

Supervision of manufacturing operations in an automotive / stamping & robotic-welding environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• 1. Implement process improvements with regards to Resistance and GMAW systems using all available current welding technologies.


• 2. Maintain welding systems to ensure manufacturing activities are in within specifications and interpret and apply specifications for manufacturability.


• 3. Support maintenance activities in PM scheduling as well as training and developing maintenance technicians from a welding perspective.


• 4. Collects, tracks, and advises on downtime issues and implements short and long-term solutions to minimize downtime.


• 5. Manage and execute in-house projects for implementing new engineering changes that modify assembly processes.


• 6. Liaise with vendors regarding software / hardware updates and troubleshooting systems.


• 7. Participation in the Layered Process Audit schedule.


• 8. Participation in the Internal ISO 9001/IATF 16949 Audit schedule (applies only to certified ISO 9001/IATF 16949 internal auditors).


• 9. Participation and cooperation in answering questions and providing information for internal and external audits regarding or related to ISO 9001/IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, and customer standards.


• 10. Completes other necessary duties as deemed appropriate and necessary.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• 1. BS: Welding Engineering, Electrical Technology, or other technical discipline plus 3 years’ experience in a welding/robotic environment.


• 2. -or- AS: Welding Technology plus 5 years welding experience in a welding/robotics environment.


• 3. -or- 7+ years’ experience and training in a similar role and environment.


• 4. Prior Supervisory experience in similar environment
