Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of college with chemistry or life sciences coursework or equivalent experience.
• Three to five years of experience for Agriculture Inspector 2 level.
• Valid Georgia CDL preferred; if not held, a GA license and willingness to obtain CDL in 6 months.
• Clean driving record and strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather.
• Basic Windows and computer skills; basic math ability.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and test the accuracy of large-capacity scales (vehicle, livestock, hopper, warehouse, forklift).
• Operate test equipment used with the test unit.
• Drive the scale test unit to inspection sites.
• Test and determine accuracy of commercial weighing devices.
• Investigate consumer complaints related to weights and measures.
• Prepare documentation related to inspections and investigations.
• Perform price verification inspections by comparing marks to scanner prices.
• Maintain state vehicle and equipment.
• Work as part of a two-person team.
• Occasional overnight travel.
