Job summary

i9 Sports in California is seeking Weekend Flag Football Officials to join our program as Part-Time Contractors. You will officiate games, mentor young athletes, and foster a positive, instructional environment across rotating seasonal venues in the South Inland Empire area.

Responsibilities include enforcing the rulebook, promoting sportsmanship, and supporting coaches during practice while maintaining safety. This role requires weekend/evening availability and a reliable vehicle.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of experience as a player, coach, or official in the sport.
• Must pass a National Criminal Background Check.
• Must have reliable personal transportation.
• Must be available weekends and evenings for the season duration.

Mandatory Regional Travel Requirement

Our programs rotate seasonally to utilize the best facilities across our territory. Applicants must have reliable personal transportation and full availability to travel to all venue locations within this cluster. Because our schedule depends on seasonal facility availability, we cannot guarantee or accommodate staff who are only available for a single city or fixed location.

• Eastvale, Norco, Corona, Riverside, and Jurupa Valley.

Responsibilities

• Promote sportsmanship and fair play through teaching and demonstrating core concepts.
• Set up and break down game/practice field equipment efficiently.
• Manage time and scorekeeping during games, tailoring instruction and competition to age-appropriate levels.
• Consistently demonstrate a positive and encouraging attitude towards players and colleagues.
• Provide superior customer service to participants and their families.
• Assist volunteer coaches during practice sessions by leading drills and answering questions.
• Foster a collaborative and supportive coaching environment.

Qualifications/Requirements

• Effectively interact with players, coaches, and spectators, fostering a positive and inclusive environment.
• Possess at least 2 years of experience as a player, coach, or official in the specific sport.
• Demonstrate initiative and the ability to solve problems that arise during shifts independently.
• Prioritize player safety by taking decisive action and displaying proactive awareness of potential risks.
• Maintain a cheerful and encouraging attitude while building strong relationships with players, coaches, and families.
• Demonstrate flexibility to work a varied schedule, including weekends and evenings, for the season duration (approximately 7 weeks).
• Possess a smartphone with internet access.
• Must successfully pass a National Criminal Background Check.

Payment for this position is based on a game rate structure

This means that as an independent contractor, you will be paid weekly based only on the number of games you successfully work during that period. Your total weekly compensation will be the established rate multiplied by the number of games completed; it is not a fixed salary or an hourly wage for time spent outside of game duties. This structure directly ties your earnings to your active participation in scheduled games.
