Job summary

St. Luke Lutheran Community in Akron, OH, is seeking an experienced Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) for our Weekend Warrior Program on a part-time schedule for weekends.

The Portage Lakes campus offers a smaller, lower-acuity setting with a supportive team and premium pay. As a weekend LPN, you will administer medications, monitor residents, assist in care planning, supervise STNAs, and collaborate with physicians to ensure seamless care.

Qualifications

• Licensed practical nursing license in Ohio (LPN).
• Experience in long-term care or skilled nursing preferred.
• Pre-employment physical and BCI background check required.
• Direct deposit payroll will be used.

Responsibilities

• Administer medications, wound care, catheter care, and other prescribed treatments.
• Monitor and document changes in residents’ health.
• Assist in developing and implementing resident care plans.
• Supervise STNAs and support team on shift.
• Collaborate with physicians and RNs for seamless care.
• Respond to emergencies and acute changes in resident conditions.

What You’ll Do (LPN Responsibilities):

As an LPN on our weekend team, you will deliver high-quality, patient-centered care to our residents. Key responsibilities include:

• Clinical Care: Administer medications, specialized wound care, catheter care, and other prescribed treatments.

• Resident Monitoring: Monitor, assess, and accurately document changes in residents’ health conditions.

• Care Planning: Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive, interdisciplinary resident care plans.

• Leadership: Supervise, support, and mentor State Tested Nursing Assistants (STNAs) on your shift.

• Collaboration: Partner closely with physicians, RNs, and the broader interdisciplinary care team to ensure seamless operations.

• Emergency Response: Swiftly respond to emergencies and acute changes in resident conditions.

What We Are Looking For (Requirements):

• License: Active, unencumbered Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the state of Ohio.

• Experience: Prior experience in long-term care (LTC) or skilled nursing is preferred.

• Skills: Strong clinical communication, sharp teamwork abilities, and a patient-centered approach to care.

• Pre-Employment Screening: Must be willing to complete a pre-employment physical and a BCI fingerprinting background check.

• Logistics: Direct deposit is required for payroll.
