Job summary

Broetje Automation is seeking a Weekend Service Engineer for our Savannah, GA facility to deliver electrical and controls expertise during commissioning and service of automated systems in a manufacturing setting.

The role requires hands-on engineering, PLC troubleshooting (Siemens Step7/TIA Portal), and travel to customer sites up to 50%+, including weekends. We offer a competitive hourly wage with OT, healthcare, and PTO.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Controls/Mechatronics preferred; or equivalent.
• Technical Certificate OR BS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering with 3+ years in industrial automation.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on automation experience.
• Experience with electrical control panels and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical and controls engineering support for new equipment and systems.
• Serve as SME for control systems (Siemens PLC, HMI, motion control).
• Apply electronics, circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming knowledge.
• Travel to customer sites for commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Maintain logs and records of duties performed.

Compensation/Benefits

Required Education

• BS in Electrical, Controls, Mechatronics, or Electro-Mechanical Engineering preferred, or comparable experience with industrial robotics or machine tools
• Technical Certificate OR BS in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, and 3+ years of experience within the industrial automation industry or equivalent experience
• Strong mechanical aptitude from prior professional experience
• Hands-on Industrial automation industry or equivalent experience

Desirable Experience

• Siemens Step 7 PLC troubleshooting experience
• Siemens TIA Portal; Sinumerik One
• CNC troubleshooting experience
• Experience in IEC61131 (PLC programming languages)
• Ability to analyze and diagnose automation problems

Qualifications

• Strong fundamental understanding of electrical design practices, machine/motion control systems, electro-mechanical systems, robotics, programming, and system integration
• Understanding of PLC programming languages
• Experienced in troubleshooting electrical control panels
• CNC troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of NC Controllers: Siemens 840D or WINCC
• Experience using precision measurement equipment (i.e. Dial indicators, calipers, etc
• Strong communication skills & ability to interact with teams, clients, and vendors
• Experience with aerial platforms and working at heights
• Ability to lift and move materials or equipment weighing up to approximately 40 lbs
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and repetitively climb stairs within a manufacturing environment
• Must have shift flexibility
• Open to working weekend shifts - (3) 12-hour shifts
• Must be able to travel to customer sites, primarily Charleston, SC and Kinston, NC (50%+ travel expected)

Job Responsibilities

• Internal subject matter expert in control systems (Siemens PLC, HMI, Motion Control Systems), system integration, sensors, & electromechanical devices
• Apply knowledge of electronics, electrical circuits, mechanics, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming
• Travel to customer sites for machine commissioning and troubleshooting support
• Maintain logs & written records of duties performed
