Job summary

St Frances Nursing and Rehab in Louisiana is seeking a Treatment Nurse (LPN or RN) to assess and follow up on residents' treatments, coordinate with licensed staff, and ensure prevention programs. The role supports infection control and ensures care plans are followed.

The nurse will document per facility policy, participate in staff meetings, and work with the nursing department to maintain high quality care. Strong leadership and weekend availability are required.

Qualifications

• Licensed nurse in state with required RN or LPN credential

Responsibilities

• Provide treatments for residents as ordered.
• Perform special procedures as ordered.
• Assess residents for risk of skin breakdown, tears or lesions.
• Ensure CNAs can provide skin prevention programs and supervise staff.
• Complete weekly skin records with onset date, location and status.
• Complete weekly skin reports for Facility QA and discuss with DON.
• Coordinate with Nursing staff to ensure daily tasks proceed smoothly.
• Notify MD or NP weekly of wound status.
• Communicate wound status to resident or representative weekly.
• Transcribe orders for treatments as obtained.

JOB SUMMARY

He/She isresponsible for the assessment and follow up of each resident's need for and result of treatments providedin the facility or a designated area of the facility. He/She communicates with the otherLicensed Staff of the facility in assessing needs and results of staff action toassure residents do not decrease their functional abilities such as: obtain skinbreakdown, contractures, weight loss, skin tears and so forth while in the facility.Assists the facility to provide education, assessment and intervention to assure preventionprograms are implemented. Assists the facility in following appropriate infectioncontrol programs. Works with the facility as team member to assure treatments arecoordinated with other events of the day. Assists the Nursing Department to assureresidents care plans are followed. Documents on records as per policy andprocedures of the facility. Participates in staff meetings and in-services as required.

The Treatment Nurse is responsible to the Director of Nursing and/or the Assistant Director of Nursing.

EDUCATION

He/Shemust be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing currently registered with the state agency for nursinglicensure and hold a valid nursing license in the state he/she is employed.

RESPONSIBILITIES

6. 6. Completesthe weekly skin reports for Facility QA. Reviews information with the Director of Nursing noting progress, possible alternateinterventions, etc.
7. 7. Workswith the Nursing Assistants and Licensed Staff to assure the resident other tasks of the day canproceed as appropriate (i.e., bathing,restorative programs,activities, etc.).
8. 8. NotifiesMD or NP at least weekly of wound status.
9. 9. Communicates wound status to resident and/or resident representative at least weekly.
10. 10. Transcribeorders as obtained for treatments.
