Job summary

Palmetto Subacute Care Center is seeking a licensed Respiratory Therapist to join our geriatric care team in a skilled nursing facility. The RT will evaluate and treat residents independently, perform a wide range of respiratory therapies, and maintain thorough documentation in a dynamic rehab setting.

Candidates must be a COARC-accredited AS or BS graduate and hold an active RRT or CRT license in the state of practice, with BLS certification.

Qualifications

• Graduate of COARC accredited AS or BS Respiratory program.
• Licensed as RRT or CRT in the practicing state.
• BLS certification required; active license in state of practice.

Responsibilities

• Perform assessments and implement respiratory techniques for rehab patients.
• Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, operate and assemble equipment.
• Deliver bedside treatments including oxygen, aerosols, PEP, chest physiotherapy, suctioning, airway management, and PFTs.
• Complete in-services for nursing staff each quarter and maintain daily/weekly/monthly documentation.
• Attend IDT meetings and manage caseload while following facility procedures.

Looking for a talented and motivated Respiratory Therapist to join our dynamic team. The position is within a Skilled Nursing facility. Candidate should possess passion for geriatric population, must contain a license in the state of practice, be able to evaluate and treat independently without direct supervision, and posses the desire to perform functional therapeutic activities to assist residents improve in their experience.

Job Description

• Completes assessments and implements respiratory techniques to maintain and progress the rehab patients with many different Respiratory illness/diseases and non respiratory illness.
• Initiate therapies, maintain patient records, operate, check, and assemble equipment
• Complete a variety of bedside treatments
  • Oxygen therapy
  • Oxygen weaning
  • Aerosol therapy
  • PEP therapy
  • Deep breathing and coughing
  • Respiratory muscle training
  • Incentive Spirometry
  • Chest physiotherapy
  • Oro/Naso-pharyngeal suctioning
  • Tracheo-bronchial suctioning and tracheostomy care
  • Airway management/assessment
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • Pulmonary function testing
  • High-flow oxygen
  • 6- and 2-minute walk testing
• Complete in-services for nursing staff every quarter
• Responsible for completing daily, weekly and monthly documentation
• Attend applicable IDT meetings
• Experience with tracheotomy
• Experience is a long term care setting
• Follow procedure and protocol of facility
• Completes tracking, auditing and caseload management
• Performs related duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Licensed in the state in which practicing BLS certification.
