Job summary

Medical City Denton is seeking a part-time Medicaid Eligibility Advocate for weekends. The role screens patients for insurance coverage and assists with government assistance applications, benefits verification, and navigation of care resources.

You will file forms, enter data, and coordinate with hospital staff and agencies, with required field visits and a reliable vehicle. Ideal candidates will have an Associate degree (or equivalent) and at least one year in healthcare or related field.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree preferred.
• Minimum one-year related experience preferred, preferably in healthcare.
• Relevant education may substitute experience requirement.

Responsibilities

• Screen and evaluate patients for existing insurance coverage, federal and state assistance programs, or hospital charity applications.
• Re-verifies benefits and obtains authorization and/or referral after treatment plan has been discussed, prior to initiation of treatment.
• Obtain legally relevant medical evidence, physician statements and other documentation required for eligibility determination.
• Complete and file applications and initiate follow-up with patients and government agency caseworkers to ensure timely processing.
• Ensure all insurance, demographic and eligibility information is entered into the system accurately and documented in the patient file.
• Participate in ongoing training programs as required.
• Follow policies and procedures to contribute to office efficiency; cover other office functions as needed.
• Make field visits as necessary and have reliable transportation available.
