Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health, Inc. is seeking a Public Safety Officer for a 16-hour day shift on Saturdays and Sundays at Lahey Clinic. You will patrol, monitor for hazards, enforce access control, and respond to incidents to protect patients, visitors, and staff.

The role requires calmness under pressure, strong communication, and basic computer/data entry skills; a high school diploma is required and healthcare security experience is preferred. Training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned areas on foot or by vehicle; checks for hazards and unauthorized persons.
• Directs vehicle and pedestrian traffic; enforces ID badges and parking rules.
• Responds to codes, alarms, medical and security incidents; coordinates with emergency services.
• Performs patient watch and observes for safety issues; uses de-escalation techniques as needed.
• Identifies fire hazards; ensures exits and extinguishers are accessible.
• transports patients/colleagues between buildings and parking areas; assists with courier tasks.
• Notifies maintenance about weather-related safety concerns; coordinates with funeral home staff as needed.
• Participates in mandatory education and quality improvement activities.
