Job summary

The City of Fishers is seeking enthusiastic, knowledgeable, experienced, and certified Group Exercise Fitness Instructors with availability to teach Body Balance, High Fitness, Total Body or other weekend classes.

This role provides safe and effective group fitness instruction while promoting healthier lifestyles and upholding the mission of the Fishers Community Center. Opened in October 2025, the Center offers extensive amenities; this position includes a free Community Center membership.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to completion of a high school diploma.
• Must be available to work weekends.
• 1+ years of experience leading group exercise.
• Ability to provide high level customer service to diverse customers in-person, online, and by phone.
• Ability to work in an environment with frequent interruptions and background noise.
• Must obtain a nationally recognized Personal Training or Group Exercise Certification within 60 days.
• Must have Adult CPR/AED and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead group exercise sessions for a wide range of clients.
• Record and maintain attendance records.
• Set up and tear down equipment and activity space.
• Begin and end class on time and assist participants as needed.
• Provide a safe environment by following City policies and maintaining cleanliness.
• Enforce safety guidelines and report maintenance issues.
• Act as a first responder in emergencies and provide first aid or CPR as needed.
• Provide excellent customer service to patrons and staff.
• Attend meetings and trainings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
