Job summary

Redwood Family Care Network in Washington state is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist adults with developmental disabilities in daily living activities. You will support with hygiene, grooming, meal prep, shopping, and transportation as needed, while following the individualized support plan.

A background check is required and you may be eligible for comprehensive benefits. Shifts are Friday through Sunday, 6:45am–7:00pm, with a strong focus on dignity, safety, and community

Responsibilities

• Direct Support Professionals assist adults with developmental disabilities in daily activities.
• Assist with care of dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs.
• Redirect behaviors with various activities as needed.
• Provide support per participant's Instruction and Support Plan (IISP).
• Ensure daily needs are met including personal hygiene, food prep, house cleaning, shopping, and health monitoring.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

Direct Support Professionals assists adults with developmental disabilities in their daily lives. Assists with care of dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs and Redirects behaviors with various activities as needed.

Performance Expectations and Responsibilities:

• Provides support to program participants that meets their needs, provides opportunities for community
• Integration a nurturing, safe, and healthful living environment.
• Must be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.
• Provides each participant with an array of instruction and support services, as described in the participants' Individual Instruction and Support Plan (IISP).
• Ensures that the daily needs of the participants are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication.
• Assists participants with regularly accessing the community to take part of a variety of outings of the participants’ choosing. This may require transporting participants or arranging for transportation.
• Ensures that participants are always treated with dignity and consideration. Promotes and safeguards each participant's ability to make decisions and to freely exercise his or her rights.
• Interacts with participants, provides informal counseling, and problem-solves with participants.
