Job summary

FirstLight Home Care of the South Hills is seeking weekend caregivers in Canonsburg, PA. You will visit clients at their homes on Saturdays and/or Sundays, following the care plan, providing personal care, mobility support, meals, and companionship.

A car is required and shifts may run up to 8 hours. Paid orientation and skills training are provided before the first case, with mileage reimbursement and a 401(k) with match.

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Current driver’s license, auto insurance, and a car reliable for weekend visits.
• Pennsylvania home-care background checks and a drug screen.
• Ability to read care plans, write short visit notes, and communicate with families.
• Physically able to assist with mobility and personal care.
• Weekend availability: Saturdays and/or Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Visit clients at their home on Saturdays and/or Sundays per the care plan.
• Provide personal care, mobility assistance, and basic meals as needed.
• Offer companionship and monitor health, mood, appetite, and skin changes.
• Record notes and update the office after visits; maintain safety.
• Transport or escort to activities if required by the plan.

Weekend Caregiver

FirstLight Home Care of the South Hills · Canonsburg, PA Clients in the South Hills and northern Washington County

$17.00/hour to start · Saturday and/or Sunday

This opening is for weekend coverage only. Weekday shifts and overnight blocks are filled from separate listings. You go to a client’s house on Saturday, Sunday, or both, follow their written service plan, and leave when the visit ends. Most clients are older adults whose families or weekday caregivers are off. Some need hands-on help. Others need a steady person in the house so they are not alone all weekend.

A weekend visit can include:

• Morning or afternoon personal care when it is on the plan: shower or sponge bath, dressing, grooming, toileting, or incontinence care.
• Help getting from bed to chair, walking with a walker, or moving with a wheelchair.
• A simple meal or snack, and sitting with them if they need help eating.
• Reminders for medicines they take themselves. You do not give injections or set up skilled-nursing meds.
• Light household work tied to the weekend: laundry, linens, kitchen and bath wipe-down, clearing a path so they do not trip.
• A ride or escort to church, a store, or a local errand if that is written on the plan.
• Conversation. A short note to the office if walking, mood, appetite, or skin looks different than the last visit.
• You clock in on our app at the client’s address. There is no facility floor and no overnight block on this posting.

When you work

Saturday, Sunday, or both. Current openings include shifts of up to 8 hours, plus shorter visits of a few hours. We assign by which weekend days you can commit to, how long a block you can take, and how close you live to the client. A car is required. This posting is not overnight.

Pay and extras

• $17.00 per hour to start
• Paid orientation and paid skills training before the first case
• Mileage when you drive a client or go from one weekend client to another

• Backup from the local office, not an out-of-state call center

Minimum to be considered

• Authorized to work in the United States
• Current driver’s license, auto insurance, and a car you can count on for Saturday and Sunday
• Pass Pennsylvania home-care background checks and a drug screen
• Read a care plan, write a short visit note, and speak clearly with families and the office
• Physically able to help with mobility and personal care
• CNA, STNA, HHA, or family caregiving helps. None of those is required if you show up on the weekend days you accept and finish training.

Do not apply if:

You cannot work Saturday or Sunday.

You cannot take a weekend block. Some visits are a few hours; others run up to 8 hours or more, and we need people who can take the longer ones.

You want overnights or weekday-only hours. Those are separate posts.

You cannot keep an interview time (in person or video) or will not tell us when you need to move it.
