Job summary

Goldfish Swim School is seeking a Swim Instructor to teach children water safety and stroke techniques using our curriculum. The role emphasizes safe, engaging instruction and ongoing communication with families in a lively, kid-friendly environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth instructor/coach, camp counselor or childcare provider preferred.
• Swimming experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
• Enforces safety rules and performs rescues and first aid when necessary.
• Evaluates progress and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
• Interacts with parents/guardians about children's progress.
• Acts as an ambassador to ensure parental satisfaction.
• Identifies and resolves challenges using problem solving.
• Inspects pool areas before/after class and reports issues.
• Maintains storage of pool equipment and manages lane lines.

Summary

Instructs students on water safety and proper swim techniques based on thorough knowledge of the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Provides swim instruction based on the Goldfish Swim School curriculum.
2. Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary.
3. Evaluates students' progress, and completes required paperwork in a timely manner.
4. Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students' swim skills.
5. Acts as a GSS "ambassador" to ensure parental satisfaction.
6. Uses problem solving and creative thinking skills to identify and resolve challenges that students encounter.
7. Inspects pool areas before and after each class for possible maintenance, cleanliness or damage issues. Reports issues to management as appropriate.
8. Maintains and ensures proper storage of all pool equipment. Places and removes lane lines.
9. Reports accidents and incidents to management. Completes required documentation and paperwork.
10. Performs Deck Teacher duties as needed.
11. Performs light cleaning duties such as window washing, deck mopping, trash removal etc. on occasion.
12. Attend required/mandatory workshops and in-service training outside of regular working hours.
13. Fulfills other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Employer.

Education/Experience

High school diploma or GED is preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor and/or childcare provider preferred. Swimming experience preferred.

Certificates and Licenses

Lifeguard, CPR/AED and First Aid certification preferred. Shallow water attendant highly recommended.

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.

Compensation

Compensation: $16.00 - $17.50 per hour
