Your resume and cover letter, tailored to exactly what they’re hiring for.
RIGO PEST in Tucson, AZ is hiring a Weed Service Technician to inspect treatment areas and identify weed types. You will apply pre-emergent, post-emergent, and manual removal methods, and maintain clear communication with customers.
No prior experience required; we provide comprehensive training and mentorship. Expect outdoor work in Tucson's climate and collaboration with office staff to deliver top-quality service.
Professional weed control is much more than spraying weeds. It means keeping Tucson yards clean and healthy all year long, building customer relationships, and teaching customers why timing matters. In the desert, weed seeds can sit in the soil for years and sprout fast after rain or heavy watering. You don’t need any prior experience to work at RIGO PEST. We offer comprehensive training programs with one-on-one mentorship and on-the-job learning, so you’ll have all the knowledge you need to do the job well. When you are ready, technicians will be required to pass a state certification exam. At RIGO PEST, Weed Service Technicians will be expected to inspect and measure treatment areas, identify weed types, and control weeds through a combination of seasonal pre-emergent applications, targeted post-emergent treatments, and manual removal. Finally, you will monitor results and respond to customer needs through clear, prompt, and courteous communication. You must be able and willing to work with the RIGO PEST office staff and leadership to ensure top-quality customer service.
When working at a customer’s property, the weed service technician represents RIGO PEST. You must be polite, professional, and friendly. Customers are sometimes frustrated when weeds return after rain or when results take time to appear. Technicians must be courteous, tactful, and clear when explaining how pre-emergent timing works and that full results take three to five weeks.
Technicians work as a team, treating each other with respect and putting the team’s needs above their own. Technicians need to be flexible and expect that their schedules could change if management determines help is needed elsewhere. Friendly, respectful communication is a must for effective teamwork.
Weed service technicians must pay careful attention to details. Accurate measurements make sure the right amount of product goes down. Products must be handled and applied with care, kept off hard surfaces, and kept away from desirable plants. Technicians must submit a report to their customers and keep a record for the company detailing the products used and where they were applied.
Technicians are physically active for most of the workday, frequently walking, kneeling, stooping, pulling, and cutting. Nearly all weed control work is done outdoors, which means working in Tucson’s temperature extremes. Applications are scheduled for the cooler part of the day whenever possible. Weed service technicians need both physical strength and stamina.
To complete a job successfully, the technician must identify the weed types present, where growth is concentrated, and the best method to control it. The technician must consider the season, recent rainfall, irrigation, and weed size when deciding between pre-emergent, post-emergent, and manual removal. If multiple treatment options exist, the technician must determine the best method for the particular property while protecting landscaping and hardscape.
Weed service technicians drive from customer to customer throughout Tucson and surrounding areas, often in a truck carrying specialized equipment and products. Technicians must maintain a clean driving record and practice safe driving skills to keep themselves and those around them safe.
