Job summary

Meyers Creative, a Chicago-based B2B marketing agency with a fully remote team, seeks a Web Development Lead to guide our web department and manage 40+ client sites. You will translate designs into high-performing WordPress sites, scope projects, and set timelines and budgets.

You will oversee hosting, deployments, and privacy compliance, ensure accessibility, and collaborate with SEO partners to optimize performance. Leadership of developers is a plus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in web development, agency experience preferred.
• Expert in custom WordPress theme development and modification.
• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3/SASS, JavaScript and PHP.
• Experience with Pantheon hosting and Git-based workflows.
• Experience implementing cookie consent/privacy compliance (OneTrust, Cookiebot, CookieYes, Termly, or similar).
• Ability to utilize AI to optimize your workflow and development.

Responsibilities

• Manage client WordPress sites, including new builds, updates, maintenance, and launches.
• Scope new sites and provide accurate timelines and budgets from creative specs.
• Develop responsive websites from our creative team’s designs.
• Manage hosting, environments, and deployments on Pantheon (dev / test / live workflow).
• Implement and maintain cookie consent and privacy compliance across 40 sites.
• Maintain ADA / WCAG accessibility standards.
• Set up and test analytics and tracking (GA4, Google Tag Manager, consent mode).
• Work with our SEO/SEM partner on technical SEO, page speed, and Core Web Vitals.
• Participate in creative and status meetings to discuss technical requirements, feasibility, and timelines.
• Keep WordPress, front-end development, and security practices current, and recommend improvements.

About Meyers Creative

Meyers Creative is a small B2B marketing agency based in Chicago with a fully remote team working on Central Time (CT). We develop brands, campaigns, and websites for clients in manufacturing, rail, HVAC, mining, and other industrial sectors. We manage more than 40 client websites and are looking for a Web Development Lead to manage those sites and lead our web department.

The role

You’ll be responsible for the development and maintenance of our client websites. You’ll work with our creative team to turn designs into functioning sites, recommend technical approaches, and keep sites secure, accessible, and performing well. You’ll also scope new projects, set timelines and budgets, and help plan the department’s staffing and workflow as it grows.

What you’ll do

• Manage client WordPress sites, including new builds, updates, maintenance, and launches

What you bring

• 5 years of web development, agency experience strongly preferred
• Expert in custom WordPress theme development and modification

• Hands-on Pantheon experience (or comparable managed WordPress hosting with Git-based workflows)
• Experience implementing cookie consent / privacy compliance (OneTrust, Cookiebot, CookieYes, Termly, or similar)
• Git / version control and modern build tools
• Comfortable working from Figma or Adobe XD files
• Experience with page builders like Elementor
• Experience managing multiple websites and project deadlines
• A portfolio of live sites you can walk us through, including what you specifically built

Great to have

• Headless CMS or block-based (Gutenberg) development
• REST APIs and third-party integrations (HubSpot, CRMs, forms)
• Multilingual / translation plugin experience
• Experience leading or mentoring other developers or freelancers
