Job summary

Artemis ARC is seeking a Digital Content Specialist with experience in writing, editing, documentation, and training materials. The role manages web content via Drupal, SharePoint, and Google Sites, optimizing copy for SEO and ensuring Section 508 accessibility on FHWA/RD&T sites.

The position is contingent and hybrid, onsite about 2 days per week at Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center in McLean, VA, with potential work at FHWA HQ in DC.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of experience in web content management, with at least 3 of those years within the last 5 years.
• Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Marketing, Business, or related discipline.
• Experience using CMS for web publishing and maintenance (Drupal, SharePoint, Google Sites).
• Experience in the transportation sector preferred.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Draft, revise, and finalize web content and manuals, coordinating approvals with FHWA contacts and external sources.
• Write and edit content for website, intranet, SharePoint, and Google Sites pages per style guides.
• Use CMS to upload, update, and post content, optimizing for SEO and Section 508 accessibility.
• Design graphics for web use: crop, recolor, resize, and format for publishing.
• Coordinate quarterly content certifications and fix broken links and maintenance needs.
• Monitor pages to ensure timely updates and suggest readability/organization improvements.
• Develop and deliver training materials and conduct in-person and virtual training on web content and tools.
• Provide quality control for web content and database entries.
• Coordinate processes to support consistent content operations.
