  • Follow safety rules and keep job site safe and clean.
  • Perform vehicle safety inspections and submit maintenance reports.
  • Care for equipment and ensure proper storage.
  • Maintain professional client interaction and mentor new crew members.
  • Attend training and safety sessions.
  • Document work with photos and records; upload to electronic folders.
  • Report accidents or property damage.

Job description

Responsibilities

Installs Energy Efficiency and Home Performance measures to Better World Builders standard work practices including Insulation, air sealing, window insulation, etc. including associated prep and clean-up of job site.

  • 100% accountable for job site execution from beginning to completion – plan and deliver materials, manage labor, keep project on schedule and on budget.
  • Work with Production Manager to determine workflow and daily priorities at start of project with daily check-ins.
  • Assign crew member tasks, complete quality checks, and manage crew member time.
  • Follows and complies with all safety and work rules and regulations.
  • Manage job site safety, QC checks, cleanliness, and daily worksite walk-around.
  • Performs routine vehicle safety inspections and submits inspection and maintenance reports.
  • Ensures proper care, maintenance, cleaning, and storage of all company equipment, including vehicles, insulation, extraction equipment, mold remediation, vacuums, air handling equipment, containment/remediation equipment, blower door, infrared equipment, ladders, power tools etc.
  • Maintain professional client interaction during project.
  • Work with and serve as mentor to new Crew Members – providing on-the-job training when applicable.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Basic math and reading skills are required.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with clients and staff.
  • Ability to analyze and solve practical problems.
  • Driver's License.
  • Priority given to those with a Chauffer’s License (HEAVILY RECOMMENDED).
Education and Experience that will result in higher pay
  • Ability to read work orders, and ensure quality installations.
  • Desire to accomplish work and be part of something big that requires teamwork.
  • Knowledge of house systems – roofing, attic ventilation, siding windows.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems a plus – small engines, blowers, generators, insulation machines.
  • Desire to continually learn more about building science, home performance, and people management.
  • Ability to use tablets and cell phones to document work.
  • Ability to track and summarize project process and fill out paperwork as needed.
  • Ability to communicate with customers, crew, and company management.
  • Ability to keep equipment, materials and crew members organized to achieve job goals in a timely manner.
  • Experience with Blower Doors, Combustion Analysis, and Infrared Imaging a plus.
  • Construction trade experience is appreciated; roofs, drywall, siding, windows, etc.
Expectations
  • Arrive on time, with appropriate clothing/uniforms, personal hand tools and personal protective gear.
  • Perform all required duties to Better World Builders standard work practices.
  • Attend all assigned training and safety sessions.
  • Respectful and Professional behavior on all job sites including, but not limited to: No cursing, No smoking of any kind, No judging, No fighting.
  • Clock-in to correct job site and select the correct task/work activities on app/company provided phone.
  • Report any equipment failures, breakdowns and/or operating issues.
  • Document all work photos of tasks being completed:
    • All before, during and after photos are mandatory.
    • Document and share out of scope issues in real time.
    • Upload all photos & work docs for project to electronic folders (OneDrive folders).
    • Report any accidents or property damage.

Reporting Relationship
  • Crew Leaders take direction from Production Manager and are supported by Sales Representatives
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Required to sit, stand, walk; talk and hear; and ability to touch and handle tools and/or controls
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Noise level is typically moderate
  • Employee will be required to wear a respirator regularly
  • Ability to work within crawlspaces and other tight quarters on a regular basis
  • Ability to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop or kneel
  • Work is physically demanding and involves working in challenging environments, while maintaining focus and attention to safety and detail.
  • Work areas are typically residential attics, basements, and crawl spaces.
  • Temperature extremes are often present, including both very hot and very cold.
  • We provide all safety equipment for employees to work safely and effectively.
