Weapons Requirements and Architecture Engineer / Principal Weapons Requirements and Architecture Engineer

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Weapons Requirements and Architecture Engineer / Principal Weapons Requirements and Architecture Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals at our Melbourne, FL campus or our San Diego (Rancho Bernardo), CA campus. This position will be based within our office spaces to support the program and business needs. Operating on our 9/80 schedule means you will get every other Friday off. This position has NO HYBRID OR REMOTE WORK AVILABLE.

This position requires a Program Security Clearance to be obtained prior to starting in the role. The selected individual will perform within an interdisciplinary team to develop novel and innovative solutions to advanced technical problems. The successful engineer will contribute to the overall development of Weapons Integration, including developing functional architecture, analyzing performance, developing and managing requirements and interfaces, and verifying/validating all allocated requirements. You will design, develop, build, and test stores management systems in conjunction with key suppliers.

The Candidate Will
  • Requirements development, analysis, maturation and implementation, translating customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Perform MBSE and capturing requirements, interfaces, behaviors, structures and parametric
  • Support mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”.
  • Perform verification checks
  • Develop technical system integration and verification plans and track their progress
  • Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership within the organization.
  • Performing risk analysis and developing mitigation plans and tracking to closure
  • Support all activities in the System Engineering “V”, with MBSE Digital Engineering and Agile design methodology.
  • Assist with the development, integration and test, flight test requirements verification, and sustainment activities
  • This position may be filled either at the EWeapons Requirements and Architecture Engineer level OR at the Principal Weapons Requirements and Architecture Engineer level based on the qualifications listed.***
Basic Qualifications
  • Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and years of related engineering experience.
  • Principal Electronics Engineer: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of related engineering experience.
  • Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis and flow-down, specification derivation and interfaces
  • Knowledge of Mil-Std-1760, UAI, CFW, Mil-STD-1553
  • Experience in model-based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools (DOORS or Rhapsody)
  • Must have Active US Government Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated interpersonal communication, presentation skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to assimilate new concepts quickly and independently
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and data analysis experience
  • Experience in the development of real-time embedded software
  • Familiarity with Atlassian collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)
  • Active TS/SCI security clearance

Level 2: $79,300 - $118,900

Level 3: $98,400 - $147,600

California

Level 2: $97,800 -$137,600

Level 3: $114,000 -$171,000

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $137,600.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $171,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
