Citi in Chennai seeks a Wealth Tax Operations Senior Supervisor to lead end-to-end non-US tax controls and reporting with a focus on accuracy and timely delivery.

You will collaborate with global teams, develop business requirements for system enhancements, and drive process improvements across Tax and Operations while partnering with Technology and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of experience in Operations, preferably in tax space.
  • Solid experience in banking Operations is more preferably in Tax (Indirect Tax, Withholding TAX, Goods and Services Tax, Trading Tax etc.)
  • Proven experience working with demanding business stakeholders within a cross-functional matrix environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills influence and spur change, facilitate, and enhance performance within a cross - functional environment.
  • Adequate level of proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and SharePoint with experience presenting to stakeholders and senior leadership stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and submission of non-US tax reports covering different jurisdictions and products.
  • Analyzing tax transaction withholding processes – Front to Back
  • Perform 3-way reconciliation between tax authorities, clients, and custodians.
  • Perform monthly BAU processes with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Reconciliation of positions and ensuring non-US tax completeness, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Preparation of process documents and flowcharts
  • Ensuring to maintain all process artifacts up to date based on any amendments in the process.
  • Acting as 1st level response on client / banker queries regarding Tax.
  • Resolving issues/ Queries related to non-US taxes.
  • Assist in developing Business Requirements for system-related enhancements and perform business UAT
  • Supporting project leads in Tech projects and process improvements in collaboration with business, Technology, and relevant stakeholders.

Job Overview

The Wealth Tax Operations Support Senior Supervisor (Internal title: Securities & Derivatives Intmd Analyst - C11) is an individual contributor’s role who is responsible for ensuring complete, accurate and timely non-US tax controls and reporting is performed, including exceptions resolution and process improvements in coordination with the Wealth Tax Operations team. The overall objective is to ensure accurate, timely and complete fulfillment of tax controls & reporting obligations imposed on Citi by different Tax Authorities.

This position plays key role to ensure end‑to‑end tax withholding activities and growing reporting demands, adding needed capacity to maintain accuracy, timely delivery, and effective coordination with key stakeholders.

The overall objective of this role includes strengthening Operational Tax processes, Governance and detection of issues, link between Product & Operational Taxation, increase awareness and knowledge on Operational Taxes.

Responsibilities

  • Backing all control functions including MCA, audits, procedures updates and implementation.
  • Provide metrics such as functional dashboards, issue tracker or change management updates part of BAU function.
  • Calculating & reporting the key KPIs and metrics
  • Well-versed with AI prompt and provide ideas to minimize the manual repetitive actions via AI tool
  • Timely escalation of issues which impacts the tax processes, ensure root cause analysis, bank/client impact, Tax Authority/client settlement, P&L booking etc. is thoroughly reviewed, sharing regular transparent updates to the stakeholders and support to the E2E closure.
  • Close cooperation with Business and Tech partners on gap identification and process improvements
  • Supporting the organization goals and being aligned to ensure a healthy culture maintained within the team and subordinates in other regions.
  • Continue professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies, methods, and best practices.
Qualifications

  • E2E Understanding of banking operations and Taxes (VAT/GST) withholding processes across the organization and have extensive knowledge on the banking products.
  • Collaboratively work to establish a globally unified and efficient operating model for Wealth Operations.
  • Continue enhancing the existing risk & control environment need based as required to run the day-to-day operations effectively.
