Western Carolina University seeks an on-site UP Program Coordinator in Cullowhee, NC. The role supports the university's UP program for students with intellectual/developmental disabilities, coordinating activities, reviewing applications, and maintaining records.
It requires collaboration with students, families, faculty, and state agencies to ensure an inclusive program experience. The position offers a full-time schedule, daytime hours, and state HR guidelines compliance.
The primary location of this position is on-site in Cullowhee, NC. The role is subject to the State of North Carolina Human Resources Act (SHRA). The University Participant (UP) Program Coordinator provides day-to-day coordination and operational support for the UP Program, a postsecondary education program serving students with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. The coordinator works closely with students, families, faculty, campus partners, undergraduate student supports, community organizations, and state agencies to promote an inclusive and well-coordinated program experience. Responsibilities include student progress monitoring, scheduling, program records, application review, staff training, outreach, reporting, emergency response coordination and other activities necessary to maintain effective program operations. The UP Program offers an inclusive, two-year on-campus living and learning experience for young adults with intellectual disability, supporting transition from high school to adult life by developing skills in education, employment, independent living, and campus and community participation.
Bachelor’s degree and one year of experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $64,272
