Job summary

Fort Wayne Community Schools is seeking a part-time athletic coach for the 2026-2027 school year at Wayne High School. The role requires who can instruct and supervise all athletic practices and games, and work with students from diverse backgrounds.

Ideal candidates have coaching experience, a commitment to student development, and must obtain SPB/Minibus certification before the season. Valid driver's license is required, with eligibility for after-school availability.

Qualifications

• Prefer candidate teaching at Wayne High School for the 2026-2027 school year.
• Must fulfill daily contracted hours before coaching if FWCS teacher.
• Must be available 3:30 PM Monday through Friday after school if not FWCS teacher.

• Develop positive working relations with students, parents, teachers and administrators.
• Utilize and coordinate with head coaches and assistants.
• Maintain high academic and athletic expectations for students.
• Possess or obtain SPB/Minibus certification before season.

Essential Functions

• Candidate must comply with IHSAA MSAC rules/ regulations and all FWCS policies including FWCS code of ethics.
• Prefer candidate with high school coaching experience.
• Must be willing and able to work effectively with students from multicultural backgrounds.
• Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to developing positive working relations with students parents teachers and administrators.
• Candidate will be responsible to instruct and supervise all athletic practices and games.
• Candidate must have the ability to maintain high expectations for students both academically and athletically.
• Candidate must have the ability to utilize organize and work with other head coaches and assistants.
• Candidate must have or be willing to get SPB/ Minibus certification before season.

Qualifications

Prefer candidate who will be teaching at Wayne High School for the 2026-2027 school year. If applicant is a current FWCS teacher the teacher must fulfill their daily contracted hours before coaching. If not an FWCS teacher candidate must be available at 3:30 Monday through Friday afternoons.

Valid Driver's License required.
