Job summary

SC Johnson is seeking an Aerosols and Liquids Operator to join our Racine, Wisconsin team. You will operate, maintain, and adjust line equipment, work to maximize uptime, and support safety and quality across production lines.

The role requires hands-on manufacturing experience, strong problem solving, teamwork, and effective communication. Overtime may be needed; work is on-site with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Supply line(s) with non-finished goods from staging area.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve process/equipment issues.
  • Maximize uptime and reduce scrap.
  • Maintain and improve quality standards.
  • Identify wastes and eliminate losses.
  • Support plant audits (GMP, SQA, ISO, SEA).
  • Perform quick changeovers and contribute to changeover reduction.

Operate, maintain, and mechanically or systematically intervene with various types of low-tech and high-tech equipment including filling, labeling, packaging and palletizing equipment across single or multiple lines. The primary goal is to work safely with a focus on teamwork towards the reduction of downtime, as well as improving efficiency and quality. Partnering with cross-functional teams is crucial to the success of an Aerosols and Liquids Operator.

Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supply line or lines with non-finished goods from staging area
  • Troubleshoot and find a resolution of process/equipment/component issues
  • Work to maximize uptime and reduce scrap
  • Maintain and improve quality standards
  • Apply root cause problem solving methods and practices
  • Identify wastes and eliminate losses
  • Perform quick changeovers & work towards changeover reduction
  • Participate in employee led Autonomous Production Teams focused on the elimination of losses
  • Support Plant audits: GMP, SQA, ISO, SEA, Housekeeping, Centerlining, etc.
  • Use consistent application of Lean Principles (i.e. Performance Management, Centerlining, CIL,
  • QCO, 5S, Loss Teams, Kaizens, etc.)
  • Complete technical training grid requirements within the allotted timeframe
  • Analyze information from data collection systems to determine and apply appropriate next steps.
  • Capable of making minor machine adjustments when needed
  • Participates in fishbone 5 Why analysis to identify root cause
  • Proficient in the use and application of MS Office Suite Products, SAP, and SMED
  • Minor maintenance on equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe workplace in accordance with SCJ policies and procedures.
  • Interact professionally and make positive contributions within the team and business environment using SCJ principles.
  • Develop and maintain compliance to standard work and standard operating procedures.
  • Show adaptability by performing various assignments during the shift.
  • Must be available to work overtime as needed
Required Skills / Experience / Competencies:
  • Demonstrated Math and Measurement skills.
  • Working knowledge of Safety, and Health and Environment principles and practices
  • Proven ability to undertake tasks of substantial variety or complexity
  • Demonstrated strength in problem solving and troubleshooting
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work in a team environment
  • Flexibility to work within teams and independently with minimal supervision to meet operational goals
  • Effectively communicate and work in a team environment
Preferred Skills / Experience / Competencies:
  • 2 years of experience in manufacturing
  • Lean Manufacturing Experience
  • Manufacturing experience at S.C. Johnson Waxdale facility through temporary assignment
  • SMED (Quick Changeover) experience
  • Proficient in the use and application of MS Office Suite Products (Outlook – Calendar and Email; Word, Excel)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic hand tool skills
  • Basic pneumatic and lubrication skills
  • Robotics awareness
Job Requirements:
  • Full-time
  • These positions will be on the back shift: 2nd, 3rd or 12-hour teams.
  • Ability to complete the essential functions of the job and tolerate the ergonomic stressors of the job. This includes lifting up to forty (40) pounds, standing, sitting, walking, bending, climbing stairs and ladders, kneeling, reaching overhead, pushing, and pulling for up to eight (8) to twelve (12) hours daily
  • All of ones’ time is spent in manufacturing working environment
  • This role is not eligible for telecommute
