Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Cleveland, OH is seeking a Wax Finisher to perform final finishing of wax and wax/plastic patterns and to assist in pattern assembly. The role emphasizes quality finishes, defect repair, and accurate data entry into the inventory system.

You will work Friday to Sunday, 6 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., totaling 36 hours per week with overtime opportunities. A high school diploma or GED is required, with preferred ability to lift 40 pounds and to work effectively on a cell team.

Responsibilities

• Finish wax and wax/plastic patterns: remove flash, repair defects, and smooth blends.
• Repair defects in pattern assemblies without changing contour or shape using wax as filling material.
• Dress pour cups.
• Attach finished pattern to tree and attach pour cup to pattern gating.
• If gating work is performed, assemble plastic or wax cross arms and vent plugs.
• Report finished piece data into inventory system.
• Prepare cores (for IGT patterns).
• Blue sealing if working on plastic/wax patterns.

Under the supervision of the Production Area Lead, the Wax Finisher position is accountable for:

• Responsible for the final finishing of wax and wax/plastic patterns. Three main areas of responsibility accomplish this: removing flash; repair defects; and smooth blends
• Repair defects in pattern assemblies without changing either the contour or the shape of the pattern by using wax as the filling material
• Dressing of pour cups
• Attach finished pattern to tree and attach pour cup to pattern gating
• If performing gating work, assembly of plastic or wax cross arms and vent plugs must be completed
• Reporting by data entry of finished piece into computer inventory system
• Preparation of cores (if working on IGT patterns)
• Blue sealing if working on plastic/wax patterns

Schedule: This position is from Friday to Sunday, 6 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.

Employees work 36 hours each week and are paid for 40 hours. Voluntary overtime opportunities are available during the week in accordance with the company's 16/64rule.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

While not exposed to hazardous materials, this position requires wearing PPE (personal protection equipment). Following all basic safety precautions will reduce risk of potential injury. This position requires anywhere from light to moderate physical activity, such as walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time, as well as some lifting.
