Description:

The job involves various responsibilities categorized into essential functions, reception duties, marginal functions, and minimum qualifications.

Essential Functions:

1. Demonstrate professional communication with patients, families, staff, and vendors to promote continuity of care.
2. Provide positive customer service in all interactions.
3. Establish and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships with healthcare team members and patients.
4. Maintain patient confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
5. Participate in staff development and orientation activities.
6. Act as a patient advocate, addressing concerns proactively.
7. Follow equipment maintenance protocols and coordinate repairs.
8. Operate office machines like fax, copier, phone, and computer.
9. Work effectively as part of the clinic team.

Receptionist Duties:

1. Manage patient flow, verify demographics and insurance, and coordinate physician releases.
2. Collect co-payments and inform patients about financial assistance.
3. Evaluate and prioritize situations with clinical staff.
4. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
5. Serve as a courteous patient advocate, ensuring clear communication.
6. Manage charge tickets and coordinate non-patient services.
7. Maintain a professional appearance of the reception area.
8. Understand third-party payers.

Marginal Functions:

1. Cross-coverage in other clinic areas as needed.
2. Maintain supply inventory.
3. Participate in performance improvement activities.
4. Maintain CPR certification.
5. Keep work areas neat and organized.
6. Perform various office duties such as greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling, and verifying authorizations.
7. Reconcile daily bank deposits and manage schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. At least six months experience working with the public.
3. Preferably experience in a clinic or physician's office.
4. CPR certification within six months of employment.
