Job summary

Position

Watershed Planning Engineer II/III — join a collaborative team of experienced engineers, scientists, landscape architects, planners, and other experts working to solve environmental issues from watershed to site-specific scales and from urban to rural settings. Responsibilities

• Support planning of stormwater infrastructure from distributed GSI to centralized regional stormwater treatment
• Support stormwater and urban watershed planning to improve water quality and ecosystem health
• Support municipal stormwater program planning, including policy and guidance development and NPDES municipal stormwater permit compliance
• Support climate vulnerability assessments and adaptation planning
• Produce planning, conceptual design, and technical documents
• Review documents, synthesize information, and communicate effectively with internal and external team members and partners
• Support development of materials and facilitation of workshops, public meetings, and trainings with municipal staff and the public
• Learn to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
• Contribute knowledge, experiences, and insights to strengthen the team

Minimum Qualifications

Education, Experience, & Licensure/Certifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering
• 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in stormwater and urban watershed planning

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Experience with planning and/or design of GSI and other stormwater management infrastructure
• Experience and technical proficiency with ArcGIS and/or hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g., SWMM, MGSFlood, WWHM)
• Preparation of planning and design reports and technical memorandums
• Experience coordinating with agencies, subconsultants, and planning and design partners
• Commitment to staying current with technical and regulatory developments in stormwater management
• Strong team collaboration, clear written and verbal communication abilities, and excellent organizational skills
• Experience providing project management or task management support
• Ability to interact with multidisciplinary teams and juggle multiple tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in civil, environmental, or water resources engineering
• Registered Professional Engineer in Oregon and/or Washington, or on track to licensure within 24 months of hire
• Experience working with public sector clients, Tribes, utilities, or community-based organizations
• Familiarity with Pacific Northwest watersheds, regulatory requirements, and stormwater challenges
• Experience with grant writing, training, and regulatory document development
• Public speaking and meeting/workshop facilitation experience
• Experience with parametric and itemized cost estimating for stormwater projects
• Familiarity with whiteboarding tools (e.g., Miro, Canva, Microsoft Whiteboard)
• Familiarity with engineering and graphic design tools (e.g., Autodesk AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Revu, Adobe InDesign)

Compensation & Benefits

• This position is salaried and exempt from overtime; salary ranges by level: Engineer II: $84,100 – $103,900; Engineer III: $94,000 – $113,800
