Job summary

Alpha Insulation & Waterproofing is seeking a skilled Waterproofing and Expansion Joints Installer to join our Alpha Insulation & Waterproofing team within the Installed Building Products (IBP) family. The ideal candidate will install waterproofing membranes, sealants, coatings, and drainage systems, and install expansion joints on various structures.

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification is a plus.
• Experience in waterproofing and/or expansion joint installation preferred.
• Knowledge of waterproofing products and joint systems (e.g., Sika, Tremco, Emseal).

Job description

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Waterproofing and Expansion Joints Installer to join our Alpha Insulation & Waterproofing team!

Key Responsibilities

• Install waterproofing systems such as membranes (bituminous, liquid-applied, or sheet), sealants, coatings, and drainage systems.
• Install expansion joint systems on floors, walls, roofs, and parking structures using appropriate materials (rubber, metal, pre-compressed foam, etc.).
• Prepare surfaces by cleaning, priming, and ensuring proper substrate conditions before installation.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and manufacturer installation instructions.
• Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
• Perform regular inspections and maintenance on installed systems as needed.
• Work in coordination with other construction trades and project stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and time spent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; trade certification is a plus.
• Minimum [X] years of experience in waterproofing and/or expansion joint installation.
• Familiarity with various waterproofing products and joint systems (e.g., Sika, Tremco, Emseal, etc.).
• Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and under various weather conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to lift heavy materials and equipment (50 lbs or more).
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred.
• OSHA 10/30 certification is an asset.

Physical Demands

The physical demands of the job include frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing to access work areas, often in confined spaces or at elevated heights. The role requires the ability to lift and carry heavy materials and equipment, typically up to 50 pounds or more. Installers must have the stamina to work long hours in varying weather conditions, as well as the dexterity and hand-eye coordination necessary for handling tools and applying waterproofing and joint systems with precision. Proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is essential due to potential exposure to chemicals, dust, and construction noise.
