Job summary

The County of Anson seeks a seasoned Public Utilities Director to plan, organize, and direct water distribution, water production and filtration, wastewater collection and treatment, and related infrastructure projects.

Lead a diverse team, administer budgets and capital programs, ensure compliance with NCDEQ, EPA, and federal/state regulations, and coordinate across divisions in a rural county facing aging systems and evolving needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience in public water and wastewater utility management.
• 5+ years in senior leadership or executive management.
• Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and direct the operations, maintenance, repair, and construction of water and sewer systems for the County.
• Oversee budgets, contracts, and capital projects; manage revenue projections and rate setting.
