Job summary

Freese and Nichols is seeking a Water/Wastewater Treatment Project Manager to lead our West Texas and broader U.S. projects from our Lubbock or El Paso offices.

The role focuses on delivering innovative treatment solutions for municipal clients while growing client relationships and staff capabilities. The ideal candidate has a Civil or Environmental Engineering degree, 4+ years in water/wastewater, and a Texas PE or ability to obtain licensure within 6 months.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
  • 4+ years of water and wastewater treatment experience, with emphasis on plant process evaluation, design and construction.
  • Strong communication, written and verbal, and strong presentation and sales skills.
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to become licensed in Texas within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with internal and external clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Oversee analysis, design, construction administration, and reports for water and wastewater projects.
  • Coordinate workload and sales efforts of internal teams to serve clients.
  • Manage complex multi-discipline treatment plant projects, typically $1M+ in fee scope.
  • Provide technical leadership in water and wastewater process design and construction contract management.

Freese and Nichols is currently searching for a Water/Wastewater Treatment Project Manager in our Lubbock or El Paso, Texas office. This is a tremendous opportunity for a talented individual to lead our growing Water and Wastewater Treatment Practice across the West Texas region.

This position primarily focuses on managing, leading, and supporting teams of engineers focused on delivering water and wastewater treatment solutions for municipal clients in West Texas, but with the ability to also work on treatment projects throughout the south central and southeastern United States. Working together with our talented teams in West Texas, North Texas, and throughout the firm’s Treatment Practice in the southeastern United States, this position would be responsible for producing quality technical work, managing and developing staff, and growing client relationships.

Primary Responsibilities
  • The candidate must have a proven ability to build and maintain trusted advisor relationships with clients, both internal and external, as well as representatives of local, state and federal regulatory agencies. A track record of successful project execution and growing business in the water/wastewater treatment field is a plus.
  • The candidate will oversee the analysis, design, construction administration, and preparation of technical reports, plans, and specifications for various water treatment, wastewater treatment, reuse, and resource recovery facility projects.
  • The candidate must have experience in managing project teams and coordinating workload and sales efforts of internal teams to serve clients.
  • The individual must have proven project management skills in managing complex projects, multi-discipline treatment plant projects. Experience with projects in the $1M+ fee range is a plus.
  • The candidate must have a mix of technical experience including but not limited to water or wastewater process design, treatment plant civil/structural/mechanical/electrical design, treatment process studies, and construction contract administration and management.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or in Environmental Engineering
  • 4+ years of related water and wastewater treatment experience with emphasis on plant process evaluation, design and construction with a preference on municipal treatment experience
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, and strong presentation and sales skills needed.
  • Texas Professional Engineer (PE) license (or the ability to become licensed in Texas within 6 months).
Preferred
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering (concentration in Environmental) or Environmental Engineering
