The City of Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Water/Wastewater Technician in the Environmental Programs Division of the Ontario Municipal Utilities Company.
The Water/Wastewater Technician is responsible for protecting the city sewer collection system, local wastewater treatment plant, its employees, the public, and the environment. Responsibilities include performing commercial and industrial facility inspections, drafting wastewater discharge permits, ensuring compliance with regulations through monitoring and enforcement activities. The role requires extensive report writing, plan review, performing calculations, and proficiency with various computer software applications.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, a customer service orientation, strong interpersonal skills, and analytical abilities. The essential functions of the Water/Wastewater Technician include:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with technical courses in relevant subjects.
Experience: At least one year in water and wastewater quality control, pretreatment, or related fields.
License: Valid California Class C driver license with acceptable record.
Desirable: College degree in related fields and two years of progressive experience, or equivalent combination. Certification (Grade I) in industrial waste inspection preferred.
